Are Rolltide4ever and I the only people that see the potential of Ulric Jones?

He has a very high ceiling. I could see him getting an offer when he camps.

I see it, I wouldn't mind Auburn taking him. But the problem is we have Dee Liner and Carl Lawson already, looking good for Montravius Adams, and have no seniors on our DL. Doubt we have a spot for him

Meh. We have plenty of guys that project at OG, and more than enough candidates to play TE. Poggi is a good player, don't get me wrong, but I think he has limited potential. Given our recruiting prowess, and weakness at the DE spot, I would rather take a shot at Jones. Hell, given proper coaching, he could project at those 3 spots as well, but he would bring much more athletic ability to the table.

It's not a question of whether Henry can play RB or not. We already have two RBs committed that are better than him. If, and it's a doubt filled if, we can flip Henry he won't play RB. Fact.
"I've never played another position," he says. "I have never had any passion to play another position. Me and my high school coaches had a Skype conversation with Coach Saban and that was one of our main questions. Coach Saban told me that they want me as a running back and they are recruiting me as a running back. He said that they think highly of me as a running back.
"They like what I can do with the ball in my hands. Coach Saban said if in two years I didn't feel like I could play running back, then I could switch. But they are recruiting me as a running back. Coach Saban said they like what I can do in the backfield and how I could catch some passes."
FWIW

I see what your talking about with Jones. Looks like he has a high ceiling.

We also told Brent Calloway he would play RB. Do you honestly feel he will ever take a snap at that position for us?

I think Jones is the ultimate risk-reward player in this class. He could be fantastic or he could be a bust, but I think given proper coaching he could be great.

Agreed.

I think recruiting Henry as an athlete like Cyrus Jones, Eddie Williams, Tyler Hayes, and Brent Calloway is the best option

Just watched Poggi, (I have some catching up to do). He looks like our HB. Although he has the motor to play on the DL with some added size. I say in last little discussion I would rather have Jones and Poggi then Henry.

That's pretty much all he is right now, "potential". He's a "smaller" LaMichael Fanning, I said as much a few pages ago.
I'd rather see what he could do at OT this year, considering his size and bball background...

This. He's an incredible athlete. We should just take him and figure out what to do with him when he gets to campus.

I havent had a chance to call Saban and ask him about this, but I'm inclined to think this is what Saban thinks is going to happen. I dont think he's necessarily "tricking" Henry into a commitment, moreso that he'll realize RB isnt his true position. I'm sure Richt told him that he'd have the first carry in the first game, and said he'll be a heisman, only to switch him to another position(like the other RB who plays LB, and Mitchell).
I hope the guy proves me wrong, but I just dont see RB in his future. At Least from his highlight film. Maybe his senior year will show he has what it takes.

I get you Mag. But, goddamn, he has the size and athletic ability to be special.

That's reminds me. Remember when Richt told Nkemdiche they are recruiting him as a RB. Classic.

The only difference is all those players have played every position that they could possibly play in HS. CJ(WR/CB), EW(S, WR), TH(Lb, S), and BC(RB, LB).
Henry has never played another position besides RB. Zero experience at LB, or TE. Does he have a killer instinct that LB requires? Can he block and catch?
Is Henry a great athelete? Absolutely. Like I posted earlier, we're recruiting at an elite level where the players we get have a ton of experience at their position, and know it well. I'm not saying it cant be done, but it will be very hard for him to switch to another position(after his 2nd year) that he has zero experience at, and has to compete against a potential 5 star who has been playing it all his life.

Agreed I am serious that his future is 100% WR or on D somewhere, he runs straight up, no hip movement, would rather plow and drive tacklers forward, even got tripped up a few times when he lost balance and bent straight over at the waist, you think Tyren Jones ever gets tripped up by losing balance? No way because of his wider base, Henry has NONE of that and the only position on the field you can get away with coming straight up is WR

I wasnt surprised at all. Especially after the "missing RB formation" tactic he used with Crowell. Could you imagine Ealey/King wondering around the dorm halls knocking on their teammates door wondering where everyone is.
