I honestly don't think Seau had any concussion like things cause this. He always struck me as a "highest of highs, lowest of lows" guy. That's a restless soul, and those are hard to contain. I've known way too many people like that, and those are honestly the ones most likely to do something like this. They don't really exhibit any cries for help. They just decide that life is a party and they want to check out of the party one day. I think concussions have caused a lot of people to do bad things(Benoit, lot of former football players) but I think Seau was probably a result of an imbalance that he attributed to concussions along the way since it's become the zeitgeist.

Commitment in name only. This one will likely go down to NSD.

If true, that makes losing out on Bosa not that big of a deal. Walker has way more upside IMO.

Walker as jack or DE if he stays at 278? And Allen at Sam similar to Hubbard?

Interesting interview with Brandon Lewis, he is very open IMO:
Brandon Lewis Interview
quote:
Alabamaintel had a chance to sit down with former Tide DL/TE Brandon Lewis this week and get his thoughts on the 2012 season. This is one interview you don’t want to miss as he gives his thoughts on what the 2012 season holds for the players and coaching staff.
Q. Brandon, has it sunk in yet that football is over for you ? Less than a month ago you were on the practice field and no you are looking at starting the next chapter of your life after football.
BL. “It has a little bit. I got my degree in Human Performance back in December and now I am in the process of sending my resume out and scheduling job interviews. One of my roommates was Donta Hightower and it kind of hit me Thursday night when he got drafted and I was at our house in Tuscaloosa working on my resume.”
Q. You were a DL coming out of high school and ended up playing TE last season. Talk a little about some of the coaches you got to work with in Tuscaloosa.
BL. “I was recruited out of HS by Kevin Steele. When I failed to qualify and had to go to Junior College, the Alabama coaches really did a good job of staying in touch with me and making sure I knew how much they wanted me back. My first two years I was coached by Bo Davis and he was ok. I think a lot of the DL guys felt the same way I did. They were glad to see Coach Rumph come on board. He is very intense and tough on the practice field, but he would do anything in the world to help one of his players. Once I moved to TE, I really developed a close bond with Bobby Williams. He would be yelling and screaming at me one minute and then walk up and crack a joke in my ear the next. That is how football should be.”
Q. Yesterday it became public that Phillip Sims has decided to leave the program. Did his decision to transfer somewhere else surprise you?
BL. “Yes and no. On one hand I understand what it is like to put in all the work each day and not get to play on Saturday’s. I guess it is different for me being from the state of Alabama. Bill Curry has called me several times about transferring to Georgia State since I decided to not come back for my 5th year. But I have two NC rings and earned my degree. This is my home and I can’t speak for Phil, but not everybody gets to play on Saturday’s at a school like Alabama. You may not understand that when you are being recruited, but reality sets in once you are on campus. All you can do is put in the work every day. I actually went in to Coach Saban’s office yesterday right after Phillip had finished telling coach he was leaving.”
Q. On that same note, how do you think his departure will affect the 2012 QB situation? Would you be concerned if AJ was lost for the season with an injury?
BL. “Not really. Ely is not the kind of QB you want to have throwing the ball 40 yards down field. He just does not have the arm for that. But I think he could be successful within the system. Coach Nuss would just have to change some things around for him. Also, do you remember in 2009 when we had to put Mark Ingram in the Wildcat to beat South Carolina bc GMAC was in a slump? I think this team could do that same thing with TJ Yeldon. He is the best freshman football player I have seen. With our defense, we could win a lot of games that way if AJ went down.”
Q. You mentioned Coach Nuss and I know you were only around him a short time this winter and spring, but what are your impressions of him?
BL.” I really like him a lot. He is really cool and laid back. You can tell he is always thinking 2-3 plays ahead when he calls a play. He has put in a few new wrinkles and formations, but it is still the same offense. I know AJ seemed to really mature and seems more confident after working with Coach Nuss.”
Q. Now that Josh Chapman and William Valchos are gone, who are the two strongest players on the 2012 team?
BL.” Unless something has changed in the last month, it will be Jesse Williams and Chance Warmack. Both guys can do some crazy things in the weight room. People don’t give Warmack enough credit. He will be a 1st round pick next year and moving Jesse to NG has made a huge difference in the DL. They have a lot of strong players, but those two stand out.”
Q. Who was the OL that you hated going up against the most when you were playing DE ?
BL.”That is an easy question. Have you ever met DJ Fluker? If he is not tired and out of breath, he is capable of killing someone with his bare hands. I have never felt that kind of power and explosion in another human being. Have you ever seen an anthill after it has been stepped on? You know how the ants just scatter everywhere? That is what the DE’s look like when they get called out to go against DJ. They all just scatter, bc we all knew what was fixing to happen to us and it was never pleasant. We used to try and get one of the young guys to pick a fight with him to tire him out before that drill.”
Q. After you got moved to TE, who was the DL that you hated to try and block the most?
BL.”Courtney Upshaw was that guy for me. He was perfect with everything he did. Where he put his hands, the angles he took to the QB, you name it. He practiced the same way he played. You knew if Courtney was healthy, he would make a big play when it was needed. We saw him do it every day in practice.”
Q.How good do you think the 2012 can be? You have been on two NC teams. How does this year’s team compare?
BL.”I think this is a championship caliber team. No doubt in my mind about it. For example, I used to be one of the biggest DL we had at 6’3” 295 pounds when I first got here in 2009. On this year’s team, I would be one of the smallest. The DL is going to be very big and more athletic this year. Having Jesse at NG is a difference maker. The key to me will be if Hubbard can be the same kind of pass rusher that Courtney was. I think the secondary will be a strength by mid -season. On offense it will be the same thing you see every year. Great RB’s running behind a great OL. But I think AJ is the best QB we have had since I have been there. You should see more explosive plays downfield this year than in past seasons.
Q.Brandon, we appreciate you taking the time to sit down with Alabamaintel and give us your thoughts on the 2012 team. You are one of the reasons that Alabama fans love the program as much as they do. You are now in a very select fraternity of college football players that not only have 2 NC rings, but also their degree. You have been a great representative of the program and we wish you all the success in the world going forward with the next phase of your life. We look forward to talking to you again soon.
BL.”I appreciate all the kind words and I look forward to talking again with you guys soon. I could be wrong, but I meant what I said earlier about how good I think this team will be this season. It will be fun to watch.”

DE in our defense. We like our NT's to be like Mount Cody or Chapman size.

Being in LA is their biggest recruiting tool, and yes I'm a lil jelly. Perfect climate year round, movie stars dropping in on practices, socializing with young Hollywood, music industry, and probably the best night scene of any major college football program.
