Here are the highlights of the chat (he chooses some idiotic questions that have zero recruiting info):

-He hasn't heard anything regarding Bo Scarborough to Oklahoma

-He feels Nkemdiche commits to Bama on May 18th

-He thinks we land Anthony Averitt and Brandon Langley

-Hears Bama is still the team to beat for Joey Bosa

-He feels our best bet at QB is Conner Mitch

-Thinks Deon Johnson will commit soon and believes he will be the last commitment from the state of Alabama

-Feels we hold on to OJ Howard

-Bateman is probably the only QB that can commit on the spot

-Hasn't heard the Falkins rumors. Spoke to him recently and his commitment is solid.

-Top 3 WRs Alabama is after: Ahmad Fulwood, Robert Foster, Derrick Griffin

-Feels Austin Gholson is solid to FSU

-Said Ruben Foster and Kendall Beckwith are top two LBer recruits for Bama

-Good chance with Tyrone Crowder

-NG prospects are Michael Hill and Greg Webb

That's all I got.

BOL and Auburn's Scout site both have visit stories for Cooper Bateman up now (I can't post them from my phone) and the consensus is that he "loved" both places.

I can't speak for the Auburn article, but he did say that he liked Alabama's QB depth chart FWIW.

ETA: Yes, Jones, Capstone is banned for doing gator tails off hooker's asses.

Salt Lake City (Utah) quarterback Cooper Bateman is in the midst of a Southeastern tour of schools that has seen him visit LSU, Alabama, and Auburn in the last five days. The 6-foot-3, 195-pounder left highly impressed with time around the Alabama program.

Bateman likes Alabama's depth chart at quarterback.

“We drove to Tuscaloosa Sunday afternoon from Birmingham. The trip there was awesome. I’m not going to lie, both of the schools I visited previous to Auburn I loved. Specifically Alabama, I loved everything about them, the program and the coaches,” Bateman told 247Sports.

“The coaches they have as far as (Nick) Saban, the teams he’s had and the players he’s put into the league says a lot. I got the chance to sit down and be around a lot of their team, what awesome guys. Just like the guys at Auburn, they are genuine guys. The campus was amazing. It was green and big. I loved it there.”

While on campus, Bateman was able to meet with Saban and offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier and came away feeling good about Alabama’s depth chart at quarterback.

“The depth chart there, it’s tough to beat that. I feel like I could come in early and do things earlier in my career. My conversations with them were brief because we caught them in the thick of things. We caught them on a full practice schedule. They made time for me and we loved that. The depth chart, I feel comfortable with that there.”

A trip to Gainesville is next on the docket for Bateman, who wants to return to Utah before formulating a list of favorites.

"At this point, I can’t say. I respect all the schools I’ve visited and all the coaches I’ve met throughout this process. I really don’t know. I’ve seen three out of the four SEC schools so far. I have a trip lined up to Washington later in the month of April. I still have places to see and decisions to make. I haven’t had time to sit down and further evaluate these schools.”

The 247Sports’ MVP of the Dallas Elite 11 Regional is still eyeing an early commitment.

“The trend these days for quarterbacks is to commit early. That’s the trend I’ll be following, not because that’s what people do, but because I feel it’s the right thing to do. You get your decision out of the way before your senior season and all the distractions out of the way. It’s for our team’s benefit.”

Bateman has a grade of 95 from 247Sports and is ranked as the no. 56 overall prospect and no. 6 pro-style quarterback in the nation.

I won't lie, after missing out on all the guys I initially wanted, Cooper Bateman would be a fine addition to this class.

Plus, he's no Mormon so no mission trip.

Another note on Bateman:

He said he is going to visit Florida and Washington before going home. Once there, he expects to make a decision so he can commit early and potentially help add to his teams class. Gotta like that attitude.

Chris Walsh from BOL regarding Duron Carter.

Actually, we've heard that he was meeting with Saban today, but he wasn't at practice. So for now, nothing's new and he obviously won't be participating in Friday's scrimmage.

5-star Allen with two at the top

Florida assistant coach Aubrey Hill has been the person in charge of recruiting Stone Bridge (Ashburn, Va.) defensive end Jonathan Allen for the Gators. Coach Hill’s message to the five-star defender has been simple during the early stages of the recruiting process.

“He just wanted to get me down on campus that was the biggest thing,” Allen said of Coach Hill. “He wanted me to get an honest and fair assessment of Florida.”

The Gators get their shot to host the talented 6-foot-3, 225-pound athlete on campus, while another SEC school gets their chance the following month.

“I have Florida this weekend and then I have Alabama sometime in May,” Allen said.

The trip to Gainesville will be Allen’s first and he’s looking to soak in as much of the campus and program as possible during his two day trip.

“I’m going down to see the campus, meet the coaching staff, I’ve met a couple of them, but really get a chance to talk to the coaching staff and then the atmosphere of Florida.”

Those same coaches Allen is interested in getting to talk to face to face also are a major reason for he’s interest in the Gators in the first place.

“I really like their coaching staff and I love that fact they play in the SEC. That’s really a great style of football played in that conference and those are the reasons why I’m really interested in Florida.”

However, Alabama will be a tough program to overcome for Allen’s services. Allen is originally from the state, and he grew up a fan of the Crimson Tide.

“I was born in Alabama so I’m from Alabama plus I grew up an Alabama fan,” Allen explained. “I just love their defense and how they fly to the ball. So those are the factors on why I like Alabama.”

When Allen does get on Alabama’s campus sometime next month, which will be his first trip there as well, he is also looking forward to meeting their coaching staff.

“I really want to get a chance to talk to the defensive coordinator and the D-line coach. I’ve talked to Lance Thompson and I’ve talked to Coach (Nick) Saban a couple times, but mainly Lance Thompson. I’m really trying to meet the coaching staff down there at Alabama.”

Currently, both of the aforementioned rest at the top of Allen’s recruitment, but a couple of East coast schools are still in mix. However, Allen is looking to end his recruitment by the time the fall rolls around.

“Those are the two definitely standing out right now, but I’m still considering Virginia Tech and Penn State…I’m hoping I can make a decision around August, in the summer. I want to make it before my senior year.”

Allen touched on what the deciding factors will be when it comes time to make that final decision.

“Definitely how I enjoy the campus, also my relationship with the coach staff is key, and also the program, where I fit in and how I feel. Those are some of the factors.”

247Sports ranks Allen as the nation’s No. 10 prospect overall and the No. 1 weak-side defensive end.

Alabama offers Fla. RB Ryan Green
April, 3, 2012
By Greg Ostendorf

The University of Alabama already has commitments from two running backs in its 2013 class, but that didn’t stop the Crimson Tide from offering Ryan Green, one of the top backs in the country, on Tuesday.

Green, an ESPNU 150 Watch List star from St. Petersburg, Fla., received his scholarship offer directly from UA head coach Nick Saban.

“It felt like an honor to talk to one of the best coaches, I think, in college football,” Green said. “The fact that Coach Saban was the one that offered me, it tells me that they see something in me that I might not see in myself because that’s a great program, and great athletes come out of Alabama. That was a good feeling.”

With the Tide offer, Green now has over 25 offers. He plans to narrow his list down this summer and feels like Alabama has a good chance to make the cut.

“They have a tradition of great running backs,” Green said. “I actually watched some of their spring practices on ESPN, and I just like the way they treat their players and the atmosphere of the place.”

Green wants to visit Tuscaloosa over the summer, along with Georgia and LSU. The Florida native is currently high on Notre Dame, where he’s visited twice, and the two in-state schools, Florida and Florida State.

Notre Dame: “It’s an up-and-coming program. They have a great coaching staff, great facilities. It’s a great place to be, and it’s a fantastic school. I just feel like that could be a good fit for me because I go to a school similar to that right now.”

Florida State: “I’ve always been a huge fan of Florida State since I was a child growing up because my sister and my aunt went there, and I just love the tradition they have as a football team. I like the staff as well.”

Florida: “With Florida, it’s the same thing. It’s funny because I grew up hating Florida because I’m a Florida State fan, but stuff like that changes once you’re recruited.”

Green plans to visit Florida this weekend for the Gators’ spring game.
