If Harpo's is a bar, then why would it be a shock for an underaged guy to get turned away and why would they (his hosts) have tried to take him there anyway?

I looked up their website and they have a kid's menu, so apparently minors can go in there sometimes. Maybe it was a 21+ night or maybe they went late enough that no minors were allowed. IDK.

At surface level... there is not an issue with a 17 year old being turned down at a bar.
The underlying issue is that... Mizzou got caught taking DGB to a bar, while his family was in town.
It is commonly known that the Beckhams adopted DGB and his brother... because of a broken home (supposedly his mother was an alcoholic) and this comes after Pinkle was just caught getting a DWI.
*disclaimer: I imagine all schools, during every recruiting event, take recruits to parties or to a bar. But... Mizzou got caught and rejected. ~
