Sophomore Nigel Warrior is getting a ton of work this spring due to Micah Abernathy recovering from offseason surgery and according to Shoop, to say that Warrior is making the most of his opportunity is a vast understatement.
“That’s a big, emphatic, capital Y-E-S,” Shoop said demonstrably when asked if Warrior was taking advantage of his chance this spring. “He’s probably been the best player through the first third of camp here.
“I’ve coached for a long, long time and his maturity, the way he’s grown up as a man over the last three or four months, the relationships he’s developed with his teammates and his coaches, trying to do everything right in the meeting rooms, on the field and in the community…it’s as good as I’ve ever seen.”
