I wish the old AD (Jim Sterk) at Mizzou would have had the balls to fight the ncaa, rather than slob on their knob and get probation and a bowl ban for a rogue tutor in 2019.
Dude was a massive vag and let the ncaa run a train on him.

We want players to see through social media if you come to Tennessee, they’re going to have a nice car, going to have a nice apartment,” Baddour told The Athletic.
The lack of self awareness from vols is astounding. Their own boosters brought this on themselves because they couldn’t keep their mouths shut.

So to add perspective, you think anyone can create an NIL and want to create an environment for the team to win and that school is accountable for what the private organization says/does? Um shouldn't there be a nexus to show the school's connection? Not seeing one!

You had better hope and pray that the NCAA is dead, because if they are not, you guys are probably fricked. The lowdown on Iamaleava and Spyre
It would really be cool if folks read the articles they linked instead of just the headline. The article you linked was pure fluff. Nothing indicative of a smoking gun, nothing to indicate that the university of Tennessee committed a violation, nothing saying Spyre or it’s clients violated any rules or laws. Just a fluff piece saying the Vols acted within a potential grey area because the NCAA is ineffective.

Is a booster running a collective and then flying a client into town to visit the coaches on campus “nexus” enough for you?

It appears to me that your NIL was promoting Tennessee athletics to recruits
It was promoted to every recruit, regardless of sport for the last 2 years. If you play any sport there is a potential NIL deal. That was the case as soon as the courts ruled.
And unless you can find a contract that says the deal is contingent on you signing with team X it is not an inducement. Spyre has released their contract language used to avoid that issue already. That separation of the deal from the school, the fact that similar deals are available at every school, kinda make this stuff hard to prove unless direct pay for play is in a contract.

How about Tennessee fans have a little understanding of the process since they just went through it. It is not a court of law, hence they don't need a smoking gun.
Spyre has publicly stated what they are doing and in my opinion what they are doing is against the rules. I can certainly be wrong, but how can Tennessee spin this so that it doesn't show Spyre helped in recruiting with their NIL money when they said that was their intent?

Did they fly every recruit in on a private plane, regardless of sport?

Thank them for what??? They are just trying to save their own crooked arse. Don’t act like you are a martyr for college football.

When did he say this? I thought this was common knowledge that he did?
That may change things.

Are you sure? Most vols aren’t so sure of this one. This part of the discussion always seems to go ignored.

He flew on the private jet but he stated not as a recruit. This whole thing is a bunch of crap. You cannot hold a school responsible for the actions of private organizations. My guess is the NCAA will lose bigtime and be instructed to set out rules for the new territory CF has entered.

Crickets. It figures. This is why Tennessee posters don't get the benefit of the doubt. As of this morning, your own beat writer has an article in which he wrote this:
LINK
quote:
On Jan. 30, the day the NCAA investigation into Tennessee's NIL practices came to light, The New York Times reported that Spyre had facilitated a private jet for Iamaleava to fly to Knoxville while UT was recruiting him. If the NCAA deemed Spyre or the person who provided the plane as a booster, that would be a violation.

Contract langue vs actions. I bet what one does carries more weight than what one says.

What do you mean 'not as a recruit?"
You can't claim what you are and everyone just accept it.
Was he also claiming to be a woman at the time.

In regards to NIL, there are really only two rules. One, it can’t directly involve the school. Two, it can’t be used for recruiting. We know it is being used for recruitment everywhere. But it seems only Tennessee’s collective is stupid enough to admit to it publicly.
First Tennessee’s collective thumbed their nose at the NCAA. Now the university is doing the same. As a repeat offender with 18 level 1 violations for paying players just a few years ago, this will not end well for Tennessee.
The NCAA knows how NIL is being used. And they have been looking for someone to make an example of. Tennessee made it easy for them by admitting to it in public.
quote:
A 2022 article by The Athletic featured Spyre Sports, the Knoxville-based sports marketing group that facilitates Tennessee’s NIL collective. Hunter Baddour, Spyre’s president and co-founder, told The Athletic that his group was “prepared to invest a substantial amount of resources into the 2023 recruiting class” He spoke of NIL packages in the hundreds of thousands, totaling millions.

Again, you people are clueless. Put your TN hate aside and realize schools cannot be held accountable for the actions of private organizations. There is no smoke here..no fire. Only NCAA trying to beat their big stick to show they are relevant.
