You don’t have a Joe Burrow on the roster and you’re in last place. If it didn’t matter then LSU would already have hired some assistant to be the HC.

It's hilarious that y'all have convinced yourselves that it doesn't matter who you hire. You have retconned Les Miles into a clueless buffoon, when in reality the man was a damn fine football coach who had the further advantage of playing with the loaded deck Saban had left him. He was winning at Oklahoma State on his own merit when y'all hired him. Yes, by the end of his run his system was outdated, but that doesn't change how good he was up through 2013 or so. Orgeron, meanwhile, was an idiot, but his championship was the equivalent of Chizik's at Auburn - it validated neither the coach nor the program, but rather showcased the incredible talent of the QB that led them to the title. Both programs quickly regressed to the mean after that QB was gone.
It absolutely matters who you hire, and you know it. The foundation of the program is crumbling.

In the last 20 years this program has been to 4 National Championships and won 3. The only other program with more is Alabama. I think you are right and there is way too much talent in this State to not compete for a NC every so often.
