Never knew football fans could be such huge vaginas

You must either be young, or a bandwagon fan that wasn't really following the Tide early in the 2000s.

Bama fans were just as big of vaginas as anyone else.

so, just pay the players and make this semi pro.

the players are already getting a free education, food, room, books. at least $13k a year and more than $20k for out of state guys. and over 50% qualify for Pell grants at an average of over $4400 per year.

so, at least $17400 a year for free in most of the football players cases.

Saban tells all his recruits this up front BEFORE they even sign with Bama

So you have talked to every recruit/player? although you kind of contradicted yourself here

When Christion Jones was in high school he was interviewed at a camp and was the only recruit present that knew his scholarship was only good for 1 year increments.

In both events, there is a level of performance required to maintain your free education. Performance for athletic scholarship and grades for academic scholarship.

What is that level? Why arent freshmen cut at the same rate as juniors?

AU has signed 187 compared to 183 for Bama during Saban's six seasons (7 recruiting classes). They just can't keep them from screwing up and getting kicked out of school for grades or the law. To the media that appears to be a much more ethical way to trim your roster.
gonna still use the trouble with the law shite huh? funion four says Hai. and total signing NLOI's over a period is not the oversigning issue/debate, please catch up

The level of contributing. If you aren't good enough to start or be at least 3rd string and you are a senior.......you need to just go on.

Seriously, Tennessee baseball just cut 17 players from the team and no one blinked an eye.

Why not the outcry for them?

At least we don't bring that game up 8 1/2 years later unless someone else does. We still hear shite about Bear Bryant from Auburn fans 30 years later.

baseball is different.

so a freshman that doesnt contribute should be cut, since they are on yearly basis

so in time to graduate(yes I realize some do, but for the others) you cut them, nice

If you actually believe what you are typing then you aren't too bright.

Were Saban actually as ruthless as the above makes him out to be, I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be able to recruit near as well as he does.

Question - - Is Gus offering the 4 yr guaranteed scholly's like Gene offered?

I remember Aubs bragging about Gene "caring for the kids" so much that he was willing to offer 4 yr guaranteed scholarships.

Why am I the only person (non Bama fan) that has no issue with this whatsoever ? It's Saban's football program .... He can run it however the frick he wants to... Oversigning happens in just about all collegiate sports ... People are so quick to attack Saban over ANYTHING he does... The motherfricker has won 3 of the last 4 NCs... Maybe the rest of us should start pushing the envelope a little harder when it comes to cuts and attrition... Everyone else is playing catchup as it stands.

Solid post.

I seriously don't feel bad in the slightest that ten kids might lose their scholarship. Maybe they should have been better at football.

If I am not mistaken, that was actually Jay Jacobs policy and Chizik followed suit. UF did the same as well. To be honest, I dont think anyone heard it from either side(UF or AU) this year. So not sure. I dont think it was about "caring for the kids" as much as making a commitment to them as they were to the school

Has it been stated that we have a few guys in this class that probably won't qualify?

He didn't contradict himself. A reporter asked several participants at a high school all star game if they knew that scholarships were 1 year renewable. The participants were from all over the country and committed to different schools. Jones was the only one who knew they were renewable and stated that he had been told by Bama's coaching staff. The players committed to other school had no idea.

Either get better, try your hardest, or start studying more and get an academic scholarship.

No it isn't. It is a student athlete just like a football player. In fact, EVERY college sport cuts or changes scholarships from year to year.

Hell, most golf teams in college will drop you from scholarship if you don't average under a certain score for the year.

AND NO ONE CARES because they play a sport that doesn't make money for the school. And yet, if your holier than thou approach to anit-oversigning and cutting was genuine you WOULD have a problem with this.

SO STFU
