the SuperDome?

I've herd it's kinda rundown compared to the Georgia Dome, but I haven't been to either.

But since the Sugar Bowl is for the SEC Champ(or No. 2), and we are the best Conference. I think it should be in the best venue we have available. I know the SEC doesn't have much say in where it is, but that's my feeling.

Hell no. There's too much tradition there. As an Alabama fan you should want it to be in New Orleans. Too many memories, good and bad, in that dome. Not to mention the history before it was played in the Super Dome.

I don't think they have much sugar cane in GA.

I know the Superdome will host another Super Bowl in a few years so I'm sure it will get some upgrades pretty soon.

Not to flame you. But if you haven't been to either venue, how can you possibly have a feeling of where it should be held?

It should stay in New Orleans and never even consider the GADome.

The Sugar Bowl commitee puts on the sugar bowl game. They are based in N.O.

The superdome is currently undergoing ~$400M in renovations.

The SEC can take it's championship anywhere it wants. It has no say in where the Sugar Bowl is held.

As a lifelong resident of Louisiana who has been in the Superdome many times, let me assure you that your source who said it is run down is wrong. It was trashed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina but was renovated afterward. Also as part of a deal with Saints owner Tom Benson to keep the team in New Orleans, upgrades were planned even before Katrina. Also, nothing against Atlanta...its a fine city but New Orleans is one of the world's greatest cities when you consider the history, food, and nightlife. And like someone else noted, they don't grow sugarcane in Georgia. So having the Sugar Bowl in the Georgia Dome would be akin to moving the Orange Bowl to Green Bay.

That's what I thought. I would be pissed if it ever moved. Its the best setting for a BCS bowl in my opionion.

On a side note, Alabama's RBs coach, Burton Burns, has a family member that is on that board. Interesting ties.

To be honest, I don't know, that is why I'm asking. I had just heard from several people that the Georgia Dome was much nicer. And the SuperDome was kinda rundown.

If by collapse, you mean suffer some tears in the fabric & if by thunderstorm, you mean tornado...then, yes.

I agree. It was very nice when I was there for the Sugar Bowl.

This is what makes it the best setting among the BCS bowls.

If you want to bring up questions like this, then the real question you're looking for is should the SEC Champ. Game be held in the Georgia Dome?

If it is good enough to host as many Super Bowls as it has and will in the future, I think it is ok for the Sugar Bowl.

Rotate it between the East and West like the Big XII does between the North (Kansas City) and South (Houston). Or at least they were doing that at one point.

Well the Georgia Dome is definitely NEWER than the Superdome and always will be. The Superdome has undergone a near total renovation since Hurricane Katrina (2005). It is currently undergoing approx. $400M in upgrades as part of concession to bind the N.O. Saints to a long term deal in N.O. Payback from the NFL is the awarding of a future (can't remeber which 2012,2015?) Superbowl to N.O. and the Superdome. Prior to awarding Superbowls, the NFL does exhaustive homework. If it is elligible to host a superbowl, IT IS NOT RUN-DOWN.

Well kinda, the SEC Champ game is in the Georgia Dome. But I get what you're saying and you're right, I should have asked if the Bowl game for the SEC Champion should be held in the Georgia Dome.

Fail.

After reviewing the upgrades, NOLA was awarded the Super Bowl by the NFL this past spring.

And it's still being upgraded, and still is the largest indoor facility to play football.

No one has the perfect mix that NOLA has, I believe this will be the 8th Super Bowl in NO.

ETA: I have always been for a rotation between NO and Atl for the Sugar Bowl and SEC championship games.
