It's just a little funny to see a portion of Arkansas fans who were loudly celebrating going 9-4 and winning a mid-tier bowl game 3 months ago laughing at schools for being happy with a NCAAT trip and some regular season successes.

You of all people should understand the whole different expectations/different versions of success thing. Alabama, LSU, Auburn, Florida and Georgia would never celebrate a trip to the Outback Bowl. But we get why you did, because you were trying to right the ship and you haven't really been nationally relevant in 40-50 years, so bowls like that matter - and that's fine. Nobody really laughed at you for it or "WELL ACKSHULLYD" you.

But.......come on. Use some common sense.

And yet, you wouldn't celebrate it. You guys went to the Citrus Bowl against Minnesota in 2019 and everyone was just like "meh" and then immediately wanted to fire Gus again. Again, it makes sense why you guys didn't celebrate and Arkansas did celebrate a bowl a notch down, but that's kind of the whole point of the differences in success in basketball, too.

But perhaps we should start laughing more at "yay we only lost 3-4 games" schools in football, I dunno.

So then from 1997 through 2020, Arkansas had the worst program in the SEC as they were the only one to not make the Sweet 16? Isn't that what you have been alluding to?

Anyone who is intellectually honest with themselves would have to agree with that, yes.

Summing up Arkansas fans in one sentence

“They’re decent, but their fans..god damn”

They’re like those people who are middle class who act rich or decent looking chicks who think they can get any dude

What it boils down to is what is important to you. Conference accolades or National accolades.

Alot of fans know they can't make routine deep runs so they put more emphasis on conference play. If your ceiling is mainly Sweet 16...the NCAA is not as much of a focus.

Other fans want more focus on the NCAA tourney because they have confidence that they have a chance at Elite 8s and Final Fours.

Yes. That is why we are excited. We have put those dark times behind us and are getting back to good runs in the NCAA like we used to.

You should be excited and are playing excellent basketball.

Not you,but I don't get the need to dump on others on Arkansas' way up.

Good luck.

Not dumping on anybody.

Every fanbase has a different perspective and expectations.

In basketball, we put more emphasis on NCAA tourney and don't care much for the SEC tourney or conference titles.

And people surely don’t remember who won the SECR or SECT in basketball. Auburns season was a failure no matter how you slice it. Bounced first weekend And LMaO at TN basketball hahahahaa

You don’t get a trophy for Sweet16, just another banner.

It’s better to show some hardware to recruits. Auburn now has several SEC Championship trophies coupled with the Final 4 trophy (during the Bruce era). You can physically show this to recruits. It’s all about recruiting, everything else is just bragging rights and nice for fans… and yes, I know that Arkansas has some top recruits coming in (but you guys got lucky with some in-state recruits).

Btw, I don’t think this season was a failure even though it’s disappointing but this Auburn team was pretty young and inexperienced. We won the SEC, got our first #1 national rankings, and Jabari is predicted #1 NBA draft pick. Not too bad.

Not a failure but it's got to be a little disappointing.

And trophies are good but how far you advance in the March Madness is big in recruiting.

The "noise level" for your program goes up exponentially once you hit the S16. Interviews, special interest pieces. Basically your teams logo plastered all over the TV for another week. Huge in building a national brand. Obviously everyone has different expectations for their particular school, based on past performance, but definitely put me in the camp of favoring a good tourney run over conference accolades. Building a national brand is critical to sustained long term success and the extra advertising you get from the tournament dwarfs anything you get from conference play.

Sec Regular Season Title > Sweet 16 > SEC Tournament title

Elite 8 > all

A Final Four trumps a conference championship but not a Sweet 16. An Elite 8 appearance wouldn't be superior either unless it was just an amazing run of exciting upsets

This will probably get downvoted but I think having the #1 pick in the NBA draft is better than getting eliminated in the Sweet 16.

You analogy on when you get out out is insane. You literally just said you wouldn’t take an Elite 8 (you’ve been once) or final 4 (you’ve never been) over a conference tournament title

Basketball is all about March Madness

Again.. id rather sec championship than elite 8.. now winning title is diff story. If you gave me choice of not being sec champ and making elite 8. Im taking sec champ 10 out of 10 times.

Guarantee you that is you asked Pearl or Barnes if they would trade the Regular season and conference tournament title to still be playing they would in a heartbeat.

I know Barnes would because the SECT is meaningless unless you are having to win it to get in.

Fresh off an elite 8 we signed the #2 class.

Muss has said numerous times that helped get the #2 class. Kids want a chance to go far when the world is watching which is March Madness.

He has also talked about recruits texting him on this years run
