a classic "the clap" versus "syphilis" dilemma

aTm has more attributes of a natural rival than Arky. 4 hours apart, many LSU grads in Houston, history of bad blood...
LSU/Arky had some potential as a rivalry just because neither really has one. The truth is that the 2 are too far apart and don't co-mingle enough to create a 'true' rivalry.

Im still bitter at LSU for ruining a good rivalry with A&M. The only satisfaction can come from re-kindling the game and kicking the crap out of the odd bunch.
Arkansas was and is a budding rivalry but unfortunately for Ark, they have run into the pinnacle of LSU teams and with little historical relevance the game was stale when not important. It just hasnt fit as well as one would presume..

Is there history there between LSU/aTm that i'm not aware of?
LSU and A&M played each other annually for many years until the mid-1970s. Back in the '60s and before, LSU was somewhat military-oriented (if I'm not mistaken, ROTC was mandatory for all freshman males), so there might have been a sort of rivalry due to both schools' pseudo-military status. The teams did another 10-year series from 1986-95. There was another two-year extension through 1997 (I thought it was four, but someone on here a while back said two, so OK), but LSU pulled out of the extension, and that pissed off the Aggies. They basically swore they'd never schedule us again.
So yeah, there's some history and some angst, but I never really considered it a bitter rivalry.

Ark is clealry a stronger program presently and historically.
I know LSU and most of the SEC loves to shite all over the Hogs at every oppty, but this doesn't make any sense to me.
What doesn't make sense to me is the desire on the part of Arkansas fans to make our series into a rivalry. Neither of us has a real arch-rival in the SEC, and I don't see anything wrong with that. We used to have one with Ole Miss, but that has waned a lot during their 40 years of mediocrity. Other than that, we've never really had a bitter conference rival, and I don't think we're missing out on much by not having one.

definitely A&M..
i look at our games against Arkansas as just a little below our game with Florida.. important, two good teams, but not a REAL rivalry..
i hate TAMU..

Seeing that the aTm rivalry has been shut down over the past years and it does not mean too much anymore, I'd rather play Arky -IMO. I think we've actually had a great series the past few years. And it's always fun beating R-Kansas! For real though, I like playing Arkansas, always a good game and is a game that has recently played a part in how the west is won.

What is this "rivalry" you speak of. We have no concept of that. Not since Tulane committed athletic suicide.

I was only around during the 80's right before LSU stopped the rivalry, according to rumors. So, I can understand your view. I'm really speaking of the here and now.

Texas A&M and I think we should play in Reliant stadium every 3rd year.

You guys realize that LSU has played Arky more than it has ATM. More history with Arky.
You guys also realize ATM has played Arky more times than it has LSU. More history with Arky.
My determination is that The Hogs are LSU and ATM's rival.

Just my opinion...
1. I believe aTm's nearest SEC foe will be LSU, and vice-versa of course.
2. Quite a few people in Southern La. have some sort of family ties or other ties to the Houston area.
It just seems that Southern La. has more ties with Houston. I've known family members that go to Houston, Astros fans, know people in Houston, etc. I can't say the same for Arkansas. At all.
