If that is the conference expansion strategery then you want to capture the largest territory contiguous to your current territory. So, if you follow that model, then the best choices out there for the SEC would be Virginia Tech and North Carolina/North Carolina State. Those are the largest territories next to the current SEC footprint.

I think that is indeed the goal.

FSU had their chance a generation ago Florida was willing to let them into the league. Instead they went to ACC and the SEC took Arkansas and South Carolina.

I thought it was more about additional subscriptions to the future SEC network. With Florida already in the SEC, the SEC gets more money from every subscriber in the state. But, if we add new states without teams in them, we can charge more there for the subscriptions.

I'm not sure if I have this exactly right, but right night, the SEC network could charge like $.10 per every household in Florida now because UF is in the SEC. On the other hand, it could only charge like $.01 or $.02 per every household in say North Carolina or Virginia that chooses to order it. If NCST and VT were added, the SEC could charge 10X more for the network in those states.

Not true. If they bring money bring them on. I would like to see them play us after a brutal SEC schedule, like we have to, instead of cruising by a bunch of cupcakes.

I respectfully disagree with your conclusions.

FSU in the SEC would indeed make recruiting much more difficult for UF. High School players who hope to be in the NFL will absolutely choose an SEC school over anybody else because of the numbers in the NFL. FSU would be given equal recruiting ability in the SEC.

There is a reason why UF so strongly opposes this.

Why would they? They play each other every year, and the recruiting war is fierce regardless of conference affiliation. The thing that has/will block FSU from being offered an SEC invitation is lack of Additional revenue they'd bring to the table....and unfortunately, MONEY is what it's all about!

Exactly.

They are already getting top classes. How much better could they do?

Guys in FL and I expect around the country still look at depth charts first.

Also, I know you don't have this problem in LA but kids here grow up a fan of one or the other usually and some of them just won't attend the one they didn't cheer for during their youth. Think Tim Tebow for the extreme example of this.

FSU moving to the SEC would have some immediate wow factor for kids here but it still comes down to coaches, depth charts, etc. Conference affiliation hasn't seemed to be a big difference maker. In fact, for those kids that want to win a NC then FSU moving to the SEC would be a negative because it's obviously harder to get to the NC in the SEC than it would be in the ACC. Well, it should be anyway.

You clearly don't know what you are talking about. Florida would have the same battles in recruiting regardless. Alabama and GAg would be more affected in recruiting than Florida. Some kids don't like Florida (family tradition, whatever). If they want to go to the SEC, then they go to Bama or GAg. There are kids who want to stay in Florida and those we battle FSU regardless. Who's recruiting got affected more when TAMU left the Big 12, Texas or Oklahoma?

And please provide the link in which Florida opposes FSU. We only oppose the financial liability/lack of financial contribution. We play them, we recruit against them, very little would change. And their TV market is covered by Bama fans in the panhandle so they bring nothing to the table except debt. They are a has been program with a mediocre coach who gets by NCSt, wake forest and other crappy ACC schools. They can't even win the ACC with Miami down for so long.

Do you keep up with recruiting in the State of Florida? They steal recruits from each other all the time. FSU has had top 5 recruiting classes for the past 3+ years.

They are almost completely even when it comes to recruiting already.

Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and possibly Kentucky and A&M would all vote against adding a team from an existing state (i.e. FSU, GT, Clemson, Louisville, Texas).

I stand in full solidarity with my brothers in FL, GA, SC and KY.

We all know those other teams up front and personal. Let them all join the Big Bevo conference.

Bring on Va Tech and NCSU.

This is pretty much it - the Big 10 Network works this way.

So, it is about adding the largest, contiguous states not already in the SEC. After seeing how the last round went (i.e. TX A&M and Missouri), how are Fla St, Clemson, Ga Tech, etc even mentioned as possible candidates by anyone anymore..?

TV money will be based on population in your footprint. Land area is irrelevant.

FSU, GT, Clemson, Louisville, etc. will not be added.

We would block texas (or try.) The obvious boost in our overall CFB standing is major. We would not want to fall back to previous levels. Maybe once we've established that we are a destination school...

Look at sCar's advancement since their admission.

Ambiguity noted - "largest" should have read "most populous" thanks

I didn't fricking say that! Don't quote me on something that I didn't say.

It is very common knowledge that UF opposes FSU coming into the SEC. This has been their stance for generations. I'm not linking you to jack shite.

This is the bottom line. FSU has nothing to offer the SEC. They can't open up any new TV markets.

Nah, not really. But since the said hell no last time I don't think many have wanted to give them another opportunity.

We were generous once and they opted for the mighty ACC.

As someone said earlier, and I have posted on other threads, if the SEC expands it's about markets, not individual teams.

The SEC really would not want Florida State, we have a team in the market, in fact the biggest team in that market. SEC expansion will go to Virginia/VT and likely NC State. That gets you in NC and Virginia/DC area.

Don't care one way or the other about FSUcks. Bring them or not, we play every year in every sport anyway.

They had one chance to join the SEC and chickened out. Why would they do it now? What would they bring to the table? Why give them a second offer?

FSUcks fans have always blamed UF for anything bad that happens to them. "Little sister syndrome"
So I am sure if they don't get an invite it will be UF's fault. FSUcks and ThugU deserve each other no matter where they go.
