ND know this team has come along way but it simply hasn't played anybody in Bama's class. Bama is by far the biggest, fastest and most talented team ND has seen this year or maybe in several years for that matter. Everybody expected Bama to be here no expected ND!

The SEC is alot better academically that many give it credit for especially B1G fans. I still can't stop laughing at Texas when they said they wouldn't join the SEC because of academics and then they pushed for West Virginia to get into Big 12 last year.

I know from what I've seen Bama, UF, UGA, Auburn, Missouri, A&M and of course Vandy are all in the top 100 nationally. Remember the ACC just added Louisville who is 160th! They have Duke, Wake Forest, ND, Boston College and UVA among others so they felt like they could take a little academic hit.

It is a stretch to add in ND's history. However if the ACC at it's best it has ND as a full member. Miami won their 5 Titles before joining the ACC too. The ACC needs a real strong ND, the U, FSU, GT, VT, Clemson. Still not as deep as the SEC, don't see how any league could be for a long time.

Only if Miami, Florida State and Georgia Tech get back to late 80's and early 90's form. Oh Yeah Notre Dame would need to join for football and be the ND that they were under Holtz from 1988-1993 or like the Ara and Devine era's in the 60's and 70's. ND was national title contender for nearly all of those 6 years in that period winning it in 1988. They also won National Titles in 1966, 1973 and 1977.

B1G fans always offer excuses for their schools and their lousy performance in Bowl Games especially against the SEC. They are a bunch of whiners!

Northwestern the former doormat of the Big 10 has come along way. I remember as a little boy they couldn't beat anybody period!

Remember this Nebraska team was just taken to the woodshed by Wisconsin in B1G Title game!

Yeah I saw that on a SC website that other day. South Carolina's gamble payed off big time when they got into the SEC. SC was sick of tobacco road basketball schools ruling the league and left. Clemson stayed and despite what they say they aren't happy there! However they are stuck because they aren't getting into the SEC and neither is FSU!

Franklin is building a very solid program in Nashville! They have a top 25 recruiting class going to boot!

OU has no D at all this year. That spells doom against Johnny Heisman. A&M by 14!

I've always wondered if Clemson left the ACC and became independent like South Carolina did in the early 70's if they would have been invited to the SEC when it expanded in the early 90's. Remember Clemson under Danny Ford won the National Title in 1981 and were a real power in the 80's.
re: An ACC team just beat an SEC team

It is a huge win for Clemson for sure! They were soundly beaten by South Carolina on their home field so they needed this. The ACC has had a lousy bowl record that last few years but Florida State should join Clemson in the win column tommorow.

2 and 2 and you throw the ball twice inside of two minutes and don't make Clemson use their timeouts! The play calling was suspect to say the least!
re: Lets shift to SEC basketball, how many SEC teams make the Tourney?
Posted by Notre Dame Fan on 12/22/12 at 7:56 pm
The SEC might only get three teams in but all three could go very deep in March. UK has far too much talent to be playing like this. Next week at Louisville is a big test for UK.
re: Missouri and Ilinois are physical teams, and good ones at that.

A huge win for the SEC over the B1G in Basketball. Missouri, Kentucky if it figures things out and Florida could give the SEC a very strong top three.
re: Future Bowl Scenario? four 16-team leagues

OU will go West with Texas. I see Virginia Tech and NC State in the SEC. NC State to the SEC gets them out of UNC and Duke's shadow or at least help. Virginia and North Carolina have way more TV sets than Oklahoma does even with the OU alums in Texas.

OU goes with Texas to the PAC. NC State and V Tech to SEC. Culturally OU belongs in the SEC and many OU fans want the SEC. However the powers that be would want the PAC first. No way does the Pac take Baylor no way! If the Big 12 breaks up Iowa State, Baylor and TCU are SOL. Kansas State I don't know. I know the fact the ACC took Louisville they would suck up West Virginia too academics. Duke, Wake Forest, UVA, ND, UNC, BC, Miami and Syracuse cancel Louisville and West Virginia out in terms of academics.
