I think Bielema is going to do much better than most expect. He's a solid coach and has just enough crazy Miles juice running through him to be dangerous.
Bielema at a place like UF or UGA would be deadly but I think he'll do well at Arkansas, their state seems to fit the smashmouth attitude.

I'm going to kick your barbies all around your room if you don't straighten up.

quote:All of those players they put out (besides McFadden, Jones, Monk) were good because Petrino developed them, not because they were super-talented athletes with tons of offers. Petrino was the reason for their success. And outside of Collins and Henry, Bielema didn't sign great players last class.
'far less talented' is just crazy... look at the offensive talent Arkansas has had go through its program the last decade... then look at who Beilima signed this past class
I don't see Bielema being successful in the West. LSU, Bama, A&M, Ole Miss, and Auburn will be better for the near future IMO

I thought Kirkland and Khoehler were big gets along with Skipper on the OL
We're lucky he cut the ones he did when he got here and finished with the class that we did

Headless barbies are all I own
Millions of them
Millions of them

we've been discussing it in this thread, but I don't see what petrino's 'scheme' has to do with anything... and guys like Ryan Mallet (who started at Michigan as a true frosh, btw) and Wilson could sling it anywhere (was originally committed to Malzahn at Tulsa)... it's not like Chainey and Beilima won't put together a good 'scheme'... they've been doing it at other places fairly successfully.
I agree... because they probably won't attract the level of talent on defense to stop other teams in the West.

They'll be homeless barbies when I punt them out of your room.

quote:This is partially my point (at least with Wilson). Petrino could scout guys that fit his system and develop them. Bielema's scheme is a smashmouth style, assuming he runs the same offense as he did at Wisconsin. But he's going to be playing tougher defenses with bigger, more talented players.

So you are going to be happy with below .500 against the good teams in the SEC. I'm fine with that.

The success and failure of the wide receivers was/is relevant because it can point out players that are the beneficiary of a good scheme, not necessarily supremely talented. Same can apply for quarterbacks. Think about some of the numbers put up by Texas Tech QBs and WRs under Leach. No one is knocking themselves over to claim that Cumbie, Kingsbury, etc. were super talented. They were mighty productive, though. That's all I'm saying.
Jesus they were all rookies last year and one tore his ACL and MCL right before the season. You're saying that our offensive talent is shite because you "haven't heard from them" after 1 season?

Can't say. He's a solid coach so I'm sure he'd be fine

Please provide your list of coaches that would elevate Arkansas to a position where they could beat Alabama or LSU 3/5 games consistently.

Bielema. Isn't that when you eat a big meal and then go outside and run your finger down your throat to make yourself throw up so you don't gain weight?
Right?
Right?

Apparently not...

I'm sorry, but Arkansas isn't ripe for success. Recruiting geography puts you at a distinct disadvantage comparative to most of the SEC. So yes, Bielema would do better at other SEC schools. I'm not saying he won't do well at Arkansas, it will just be much harder.
