You do know there is an SEC team in Texas now? Also, LSU has historically recruited well in Texas. I think you’re overstating the power of Arkansas lol.

A bunch of that money goes back to facilities and coaching salaries to try to compete though, so if you aren't competitive, what's really the point?

For 2016-17, Arkansas made $130 million in revenue with $113 million in expenses. West Virginia made $110.5 million with $89 million in expenses. Yeah the SEC teams dominate revenue. We also spend a ton because we have to.

Add in that Arkansas would probably improve the Big XII's TV deal, playing teams in their region and actually winning would draw more students to the school, and winning may get doners to pony up more cash. I don't think the financial hit would be bad enough that a move is inconsiderable.

They normally recruit right at TCU's level and better than Oklahoma State and West Virginia. TCU and Oklahoma State are just riding good coaches right now. I don't see either of those programs having staying power.

Mizzou plays in the East, and while the East isn't as bad as people make it out to be, it's not the same level as the West. I do think 2013 Mizzou would've run the table in the Big XII and played in a national title though

Missouri was slowly dying due to the lack of the funds that OU and Texas were getting over Missouri. Also same for recruits since Missouri was so far away. In the SEC Missouri got a fresh start and used the financial gain to start building up the stadium and facilities for football and other sports. Then they protest that was false and the bad exposure set Missouri back. This is the first year I am seeing things going in the right direction. Give Missouri 2 more years to get back to getting better recruits from the State of Missouri and elsewhere. Depth have been the major problems for years. New AD have help big time and the coach had many years of training on getting coaching and learning the front office for years as well. Well overall type to get the program to the next level. Also The coach is a MIZZOU guy. He was train to get that all that for the head coach job. Just a perfect timing too. Illinois, Nebraska, Texas, Florida, Tennessee, and Arkansas sunk helped Missouri with recruiting and getting ahead.

I agree with you here. Being in the Big XII today would probably mean more success for them and more stability for that conference.

I remember being a kid in Lubbock when Hatfield was at Arky and they were a big dog in the SWC. My dad took me to a pep rally at Texas Tech that had bonfire with the slobbering hog logo on top, I think in '89.

That said, it made total sense for them to join the SEC when they did, much like Mizzou. They had to look out for themselves before the rest of their conference because they knew no one else would. Especially the folks in Austin.

Big 12 were not equal sharing the profits. That hurt MIZZOU and others up north. It was all in in Texas. Bad fit for the north. Recruits were hard to get when more Texas schools join and made it harder for the north schools. SEC have already helped MIZZOU and is on track to be a bowl eligible team every year.

Probably the dumbest post in here. Let's take a look at Arkansas' record vs the Big 12. ARKvsBig12

35-14 lifetime. Since 2008, Arkansas is 8-3 against the Big 12. This includes wins against Texas and TCU.

As far as recruiting, for the 2019 class, Arkansas ranks 17th on Rivals, and 22nd on 24/7. This puts them #3 in recruiting if they were in the Big 12, behind Texas/OU.

We would compete a lot better if we were in the Big 12.

They'd be happier until the B12 disbands and they're begging for an invite to another power conference.

Anyone joining the B12 is either desperate or stupid.

if Arkansas was in the Big XII as of 2010, they would have easily been in contention for the football conference title a few times. Hell, despite Baylor being decent to the point of back-to-back Big 12 titles in 2013 and 2014, it's still Baylor, which historically is not great.

Arkansas would be an absolute boost for the Big XII. Oklahoma vs. Arkansas would be huge every year as would be Oklahoma State vs. Arkansas. Hogs have a respectable basketball. football, baseball history and the best Cross Country program all time.

Big XII is still on life support football wise. Texas isn't pulling its weight. Oklahoma has remained consistent with 2 CFP appearances, but other than that, there's not much hope unless TCU and WVU step it up more often.

Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas also have Donald W. Reynolds in common. His name is on several buildings/structures of the three mentioned above.

While I know Arkansas is SEC, I have always associated them geographically more with the Big 8/SWC/Big 12. If we can eventually get Arkansas, that would give the Big XII the biggest boost of all. Arkansas athletics would contend for more championships. Money may not be as substantial as they are getting with the SEC brand, but WINNING usually generates the economy.

Who knows... Would be nice to hit up Dickson Street every other year.

They would instantly become better, not just because it’s a shitty league, but primarily because they’d be able to recruit and sell their program to Texans once again...which is the only reason their program had success in the past. Arkansas is a terrible state. It’s basically Mississippi with better weather, but no athletes.

Really? We've had a standing invitation to join the Big 12 for years and we're still in the SEC. The only reason this is even being discussed is because we're struggling now, but Arkansas has had more SEC success than many want to acknowledge. If we'd won just one SECCG, then this wouldn't be on the table now, but we've still come closer than anyone outside the Big 6.

What’s crazy is that recruiting class is your best in a while and it’s simply uncompetitive in the SEC West.

If I was an Arky fan I would be pushing for the Big 12 to give the program a new lease on life.

I don't have any statistics on this and maybe it's just my imagination, but it seems like Little Rock and Pine Bluff used to produce more good football players back in the day than now. It would help their roster, no matter what conference they are in, if they could fix that.

When angry, redneck white boys were fast enough to compete those two cities helped tremendously

It wouldn't bother me for sure. And it's really not because of competition but in an oddly nice way I find it hard to really give a shite about you 13. I know I can hate Texas and feel pretty sure I could feel the same about the OKs.
