Tennessee is the worst state for HS football in the SEC
That honor belongs to Kentucky.

Well this is the obvious answer.
Florida
Texas
Cali
Louisiana
Alabama
Georgia
S.C
and Mississippi
in that order, are the best.
ETA: Though Pennsylvania and Ohio probably deserve to be in that list.

How many of those does Mississippi count that are from JUCO, and originally from another state?
Posted on 12/17/09 at 11:32 pm to CapstoneGrad06
They count it by the high school they attended.

So, why would Mississippi State or Ole Miss fans brag about this when so many leave the state for other SEC programs?

State pride I suppose.

Arkansas is starting to improve since they now allow some spring ball
I played Arky HS football 10 years ago and we had spring football plus 7 on 7 in the summer

NFL PLAYERS PER CAPITA: Louisiana, with one NFL player for every 55,862 residents, led the list of NFL players per capita based on Kickoff Weekend rosters.
Mississippi (1 in 67,730) and South Carolina (1 in 78,667) rounded out the top three.
The national average is one NFL player per 166,031 U.S. residents.
Putting "Per Capita" into perspective. When your population trend sucks, you move up in rank.
Once again, MS and LA are in the rear view mirror

And is it mostly MS talent that go to other schools and out of state that go to the NFL?
And you point? The OP was about the talent each state produces. Even if the high school talent in MS heads elsewhere and ends up in the NFL (Jason Campbell, Clinton Portis, DeShea Townsend, Lance Allworth, Quentin Groves, etc etc etc etc the list goes on and on) that still means that Mississippi produces fantastic football talent.
Seriously, ask anybody who is big into recruiting and they'll tell you that Mississippi high school athletes are some of the country's finest.

I really don't think you understand statistics.

I'm not bragging about it as an Ole Miss fan. I'm bragging about it as a native Mississippian and MS high school football fan.

Montana is not that bad. Small state but die-hard fans of the Grizzlies and Bobcats that are regular playoff contenders.

Don't know jack about Kentucky HS football, but Arkansas HS football is terrible. 7 classifications with too few schools in each one. Too many seeds in playoffs. A 2-8 team made the playoffs this year
