Not even in the top 5 worst.

They finished the year ranked #22, all over their losses except one were against highly ranked teams, two of them coming to the eventual national champion.

They had one bad loss @ Kentucky, but that was a close game and was due to the emotional hangover after beating Alabama.

People are letting one major arse kicking in the title game mean more than it actually does.

95 Arkansas got their arse beat even worse in the title game and had a craptacular regular season to go with it.

Nope, the Cock loss is the worst in history. And why do you downplay their loss to Kentucky? That was pretty bad.

You clearly don't know what you're talking about, you're just jumping on the Arky hater bandwagon. Our "craptacular regular season" was 8-3 and our only bad loss was SMU.

Using pure margin of victory is a bad measure for how badly a team got beat.

Getting beat 35-3 can be worse than losing 56-17, depending on how the game goes.

And a 3 point conference loss @ Kentucky is a hell of alot better than a loss to an otherwise winless SMU team.

I don't give a crap about Arkansas or South Carolina, but you're out of your mind if you think Arkansas 95 was a better team or had a better resume than 2010 South Carolina.

I'm not arguing South Carolina 2010 was good or anything, I'm just pointing out Arkansas 95 was worse.

South Carolina 2010
Went 9-5
Finished ranked #22
Every loss was to a highly ranked team except one
One loss on the road to a bad team, but in conference play.
Got blown out twice

Arkansas 1995
Went 8-5 (this is including a gift win over Alabama thanks to no instant replay)
Did not finished ranked
Lost 3 games to unranked teams
One loss at a neutral site to one of the worst teams in the country
Got blown out three times

Yeah, pointing out a typo really wins you the argument!

That mountain of facts can't be overcome. 95 Arkansas was the worst team to play in the SEC title game and it's not even close.

What was the typo? How many games do you think we lost to unranked teams that year?

That's why I said just stop. Your "facts" are way off.

2003 Ole Miss. They were division champs and couldn't even make the trip to atlanta.

This would be a legit troll if OM didn't finish 7-1 in the SEC. Clearly stronger than any of the candidates. Suckas

Very good special teams play was all that kept them in the game.

Along with a VERY GOOD defense.

We weren't known for our offense we won tight close grind it out games with Sherill and company.

And yet they still led 14-10 in the 4th quarter before Tennessee's depth finally took over the game on the offensive side of the ball.

Its amazing how many OM fans have posted on here saying State is the worst team to ever make it to the SECCG

Must suck for them to have never made it.

Worst Division Champion in SEC History?

The nominees:

1995 Arkansas
Final Record: 8-5
Case For: They lost to 1-10 SMU in their first game of the season and got beat 34-3 in the SEC title game
Case Against: There really is none

2002 Arkansas
Final Record: 9-5
Case For: Alabama should have been in the game. They lost 30-12 to the Tide at home and got beat 30-3 by Georgia in the championship game.
Case Against: They beat #24 Auburn 38-17 on the road.

Also,
- The 1995 Arkansas Western Divison Champs lost at 7-4-1 LSU 28-0 in the last regular season game in Baton Rouge.
And,
- LSU, NOT Alabama (or Arkansas) would have been the Western Division Champs of 2002 and gone to Atlanta - had they not given up TWO Hail Mary passes from 2 of 17 Matt Jones of Arkansas in the last seconds in Little Rock in the regular season finale on Thanksgiving 2002.
