It's definitely 12 UT. They gave up over 550 yards of offense to us.

I think Saban sent Sunseri up there to sabotage your football team.

And realize, they ran nearly as much nickel this year as they did a base 3-4. Sunseri is just a fricking joke when it comes down to it.

Maybe. But that defense was bad before he got there so maybe he was just in a losing situation. If im not mistaken, that was his first DC gig so maybe he will learn from it and be better in the future or he is just a career position coach.

1998 LSU defense. Lou "My defense takes 5 years to implement" Tepper took a pretty damn good defense from 97 that went 10-2 and destroyed it.

Every QB had a career day against LSU.

Quincy Carter had 1 incomplete pass. All game.

LSU was 4-7, lost almost every game in the last 2 minutes thanks to a defense that consistently gave up game winning drives. The offense was pretty good and was the reason every game was close that year.

Before this season, never in its history has Tennessee allowed 40 or more points in three consecutive games.

gave up 37 points to UF
51 points to UGA
41 points to MSU
44 points to Bama
38 points to SC
48 points to Troy
51 points to Missouri
41 points to Vandy

MSU scored TD in every possession against UT in the 1st half.

3rd and goal, ball on the 26 yard line. South Carolina scores a TD.

UGA had 4 70+ yard runs against UT.

statistically looking at yards and points given up, this was the worst defense in UT history.

DANG! That LSU defense definitely has a beef as the all time worst then.

I was hoping Troy would have won so Dooley could have been let go earlier.

However...I don't think anything matches the suck that was the 2012 Tennessee Volunteers defense.

Vanderbilt gave up 418 points in 11 games in back-to-back years (1978 & 1979) for an average of 38 points per game.

Tennessee gave up 428 in 12 games this year for a 35.6 average.

I really would've like to have seen the 2012 UT and Auburn teams play each other. That would have been a comedy of errors. As bad as UT was I still think they would've beaten Auburn.

As for worst, it's AU 2012 by a hair over UT.

Auburn 2012.....

Dishonorable Mention goes to Arkansas 2012. While they were better in total defense, they were 18 spots worse in scoring defense. Quite an accomplishment for a teams whose fans were crowing about how great their defense would be.

The AU/LSU game is the one thing that doesn't make the AU 2012 defense look as bad UT's. That was their one game that they played up to.

Not true at all.

Auburn held 8 of 12 opponents to 28 points or less. Tennessee only managed that feat four times.

UT gave up 35 or more points in 7 out of 8 SEC games. Auburn only did it in 4 of 8.

As a team Auburn sucked more, but from an strictly defensive perspective UT was worse by a good margin.
