AU's position is they had no idea, obviously neither did the NCAA clearing house

I totally agree. The entire argument is based upon someone who, after all of these years of cheating and not getting caught, decides to go rogue and implicate himself in a pay for player scheme gone awry? All over a Memphis recruit? After he's admitted that he's paid players before and he's talking about it now because it's past the statute of limitations? He might be crazy and arrogant, and he might be a liar, but he's probably not that stupid.

I don't know why AU or any other program would pay a GC to change his grades if he was as close to qualifying as his former coach said he was. Besides if he was that close aren't there summer classes and work he can do to fully qualify? I know a couple of AU recruits were doing that this summer.

I don't think you can read into it either way. He's still part of the team. And if he weren't there, people would REALLY read into it. I think they are doing the bare minimum until they have further information from the NCAA.

bound to be more interesting details coming out in the next few weeks
the more logical question is why would auburn pay a GC in memphis to change grades for this kid?
- not necessarily hurting for a rb
- everyone remembers the albert means stuff
- just had a year long anal probe investigation completed by the ncaa
