The counselor had to have been encouraged by someone.. I doubt anyone would risk their career over liking a kid and wanting him to succeed fraudulently.
common sense suggests this, but people do stupid things all the time for weird reasons. maybe she thought she was just helping a local kid make good? only she knows at this point

Yeah... but long term, he could try to go back. I don't know about what the limitations would be if he were caught cheating. E.G., how long he would be ineligible, or which schools would be off limits.

Wouldn't it be 'he said she said' without a pay stub?
Auburn would have to be sloppy for this to be a Auburn violation.
Not exactly, as has been stated before. Why risk career suicide for no reason other than just wanting to do it to get the kid in college. There were incentives. If I were you I would hope they paid enough for her to remain tight lipped. But she mailed transcripts, therefore committing a federal offense so they will put the fear of God into her to get her to talk

This will come back to bite AU in the arse IMO

frick this shite.

Because people take pride in seeing a kid from their area or high school play at a major university. I could easily see pressure coming from the high school as much or more than Auburn to get him eligible.

It's very possible.. I just doubt it.
A RB on my high school team could have very well played at the college level.. He still holds several state records.. The kicker is he couldn't pass his classes.. The little hick town I was from was overly obsessed with football. Only 1 player had ever played D1.. Needless to say, Morris didn't step foot on a college campus.

Seriously no troll, but didn't something like this happen several years ago where a Bama booster 'helped' a grade change? I remember some Auburn folks being up in arms about it, then I remember nothing happening to Bama, but the kid couldn't play.
I may be way confused, but does anyone else remember this? I'm thinking like 2007 or something.

There was a lot of talk about Josh Chapman at Hoover, I think, but I don't even know or care what happened.

Teachers/counselors usually aren't from the town they teach/work in.. I doubt their hometown pride trumped survival mechanisms in this case.

WELL... I recovered from surgery, then traveled a bit and I've been working tons and socializing with real life people. I realized how long it had been since I had been here today when all of the news broke today.
I was hooked back by the TM7 news and then the Auburn mini drama. I have to say though, it's been very refreshing this summer learning about news the old fashioned way without seeing it peppered by angry people bickering. I had a little bit of culture shock when I was lurking earlier.

The only way AU gets in trouble is if like some have said got the counselor to change the grade. You can bet with the new law in TN that was put in place in 2011 they will sing to the NCAA and let the truth out. Because if not in TN if the truth comes out and they did it in favor of a college it is a felony. I doubt anyone would go to jail for Trooper.

It is time to get a little worried about this for all Auburn fans. NCAA has a pair of big boy pants since the days of Cam. Just look at Penn State, and a new investigation is underway there today, so likely they aren't through with Penn State. Look out any that get on their bad side now. AND, yes they are checking what involvement Auburn supporters had in this case. They already had the facts when they contacted the school system, how much do they already know about Auburn? More than Auburn thinks is my guess.

HEY!
How are you? I wouldn't be worried yet. Here is the Chapman series of events. If it's at all like this, it'll be fine... I think this is TTown Menswear level of anxiety until more information is given.

Those ladies posted earlier look older. That could easily be their hometown now. Either way, we'll find out what happened, but I could see what I posted before end up being what happened.

It's possible either way..
We needed a stud RB.. Yeldon flipped.. Deadline was drawing near.. I'll hold on my pessimistic view and hope I'm not right..
