They're saying controversial call at the plate. There was nothing controversial about it. The umpire made the wrong fricking call. He fricked up. Call it what it really was.

Those that supervise umpires will accept some blown calls, but they don't really tolerate it when umpires are out of position. It was obvious he need to move and he never did. He definitey couldn't see the tag and I'm not sure he was able to see the plate either.
Brutal. Just brutal, especially balls & strikes the last inning. He took out his frustration with Walton on the players.

My wife, who is clueless about such things said "how could the umpire even see to make that call..."
And then he comes back and had a strike zone that reached the middle of the batters box and 6 inches off the ground.
He was a mess.

Yeah...I called it 'out' in real time. Looked obvious. Then the replay sealed it.
We should be looking at a virtual lock for UF v UW in the championship series. Not any more. It's going to be tough for UF to rebound tomorrow. They will likely face OU, after OU plays an elimination game earlier in the day.

I’ve never seen anything like that, that umpire should be fired before he gets to his car. I hate those girls had to lose like that, and it is embarrassing for the sport he was even able to call a big game like this.

Tough to lose a game like that. Played a good game, but goes without saying the umpiring left a lot to be desired.
Hard to believe that in 2018 they don't have replay for at least the WCWS.

Does anyone know if teams carry mobile office equipment to the dugout or lockerroom areas? Teams these days have those cheat-sheet cards in wrist bands and sometimes they have to change them and I'm wondering if they sometimes print new stuff during the game.
I'm also wondering if Walton may have downloaded a screenshot of the tag at the plate and put that on his clipboard and let that be part of his tirade to the umpire before getting tossed.
The offical score in this game was UCLA 6 UF 5.
The real score, I think I messed it up earlier.

UF had more hits (UCLA only had 3 hits - but mistakes killed Barnhill) and fewer errors, hit 3 HR's and scored 5, and started a pitcher with an ERA below 1.10 - and lost.

Hard to tell from this image but I don't think the umpire can even see the plate. SECN just had a replay and pointed out the umpire was down the line as if he was responsible for the foul ball call - but there are field umpires and one of them was 10ft from the catch. This is fricking retarded. So the umpire blew it from start to finish.

He couldn't see shite. Then he waits to see if the catcher has the ball, but calls the runner safe anyway. I highly believe it was a call made to keep the game closer since it was 4-1 at the time and it was obviously a guess. But it also says a lot that this ump fricked UF so hard in the 7th because he was pissed at the coach as well.

Same Ump will probably be made head of officiating for the SEC next year.
