ETA - June 1st
Winner's play in each bracket

All times Central

Oregon v Washington 6PM
Florida v UCLA 8:30PM

Losers will play tomorrow and crossover to the other bracket to play the survivors from elimination games.

All times are Central Time
May 31st
Bracket 1 - Oregon, Az St, Oky, Wash
Bracket 2 - UF, UGA, UCLA, FSU

Game 1 11:00AM
#1Oregon v #8Az St

Game 2 1:30PM
#4Oky v #5Wash

Game 3 6:00PM
#2UF v #7UGA

Game 4 8:30PM
#3UCLA v #6FSU

Juen 1st - winners from opening day matchup. Losing on opening day gets you a day off but really strains your pitching starting the next day.

June 2nd - early in the day are elimination games for opening day losers; survivors will play two; they have the crossover games where the loser of the first winner's matchup from June 1st crossover to the other bracket to play the winner of the first elimination game in that bracket. That is the only way we could see an All-SEC final series, to my knowledge. The two-time winners get a day off here.

June 3rd - completing the brackets to see who goes to the championship series. Double headers if necessary.

June 4, 5, 6 - championship series.

Printable Bracket

Georgia won their series against UF back in March and lost to Oregon in a one off. Florida split their games with FSU. Not sure who to root for.

I think SECN showed highlights of that UF/UGA series and it was Ocasio that gave up most of the damage to UGA. I wouldn't be surprised to see UF use a mix of pitchers to include everyone but Ocasio against UGA, or to start Ocasio and hope she gets through the order once without damage and then start inserting more pitchers.

eta I had the Ocasio stuff backwards. she had the most success against Georgia, not the least.

According to UGA UGA Athletics Website:
UGA v UF will be on ESPN 2. Commentators will be Beth Mowins, Jessica Mendoza and Michele Smith with Holly Rowe.
Georgia won the season series against UF this year, including a run-rule win. For post season play, UGA has won 4 of the last 5 against UF.

In the series against UF- Georgia got most damage done against UF's #3 and #4 pitchers. (I thought it was Ocasio before but it wasn't). Actually Ocasio seems to have had the most success against UGA, who has a good offensive lineup.

This is Jessica Mendoza

(it's not the same Jessica on the TV broadcast, but it is a Jessica Mendoza)

Game 1 starting now, on ESPN with Laura Rutledge. Oregon's uniforms look....bright.

I'm glad someone enjoys this stuff but I cannot stand watching women's sports.

I think Walton goes with both pitchers this game.

The back to back to back homeruns against Barnhill in game two was after she was rattled with the illegal pitches.

And in game three Ocasio limited them to one run and took the win. I think she’ll fare better against the Georgia slappers.

Some of them are unwatchable, like basketball. And they still make a lot more errors than in men's baseball. I just saw Oregon botch a foul ball where SS and 3B ran into each other. You see that much more often in softball than in baseball. But overall, these teams are playing at a high level.

Right on cue...slow roller back to the circle and pitcher can't field her position and 2B doesn't know how to position herself at first base to make a catch.

Oregon has a little blonde chick that is pretty damn fast. She just got a bunt single. And she has a good set of buttocks too.

Just found out softball has a horribly stupid obstruction rule - a fielder must have the ball before they can be in front of the plate/base. So if there's a play at the plate and the ball is thrown up the line a bit, the catcher can't go up the line to get the ball as that is obstruction. Just had a play at the plate and this came into play.

This is quite possibly the worst rule I've ever seen for baseball or softball and puts the defense at an extreme disadvantage.

Anyway...thanks to that rule and some miscues from Az St, after 1 inning, tied 2-2.

Az St goes yard again. 3 run homerun. They've back in it, down 6-5 going to bottom of the 5th.

So we got 13 teams in, yet only 2 made it to WCWS? Poor showing.

All 16 regional seeds won their region (SEC had 9 seeded ones).

All top 8 won their Supers (SEC had 2 of too 8).

So seeding matched results so far.

Pac12 is the best conference this year in softball.

Oregon answers bottom of the 5th with 2 run homerun. Oregon leads 8-5 going to the 6th. Oregon has inserted its ace here in the 6th. I guess they are trying to split the workload for the first two games. They will likely face Oky in the winner's bracket. Probably a smart decision to keep both of the top two arms reasonably fresh.

Another homerun for Oregon. This poor Az St pitcher, she's been rocked pretty good today. But she's made a lot of mistakes getting pitches up in the zone and over the middle of the plate. Oregon now up 11-5. Aside from the HRs, Oregon has hit about 5 balls off the wall or short hopping the wall.

Oky changed pitchers from their ace to the closer in the 5th inning and UW touched her up for a couple runs.
UW pitching and defense has been excellent.
Now bottom 7, with 2 outs and UW leads 2-0.
