No on the contrary if cohen had done a better job of doing this then yall wouldn’t be getting the backlash you are. Everyone was always on y’all’s side for 1983 and people always thought yall got bad luck in 2004 and 1993 but you guys over stepped and grabbed too many, especially 1958. Tennessee might as well go grab like 5 more from the Neyland era. And the argument that Bama claims too much is kind of silly because besides 1941, bama has some good claims. Hell bama doesn’t even claim an undefeated Kenny stabler year. I have no problem with people claiming iffy titles but Auburn went way too far back and too greedy with their claims. If they only had chosen 1983, 1993, and 2004 they coulda still had some moral high ground. They also shoulda waited till they had another winning record to do it at least.

Why? What does that have to do with anything? 1910, 1958, and 1993 are stretches. I'll admit that. The rest aren't. The 1932 team has a legit argument to be national champion, but they didn't claim it.

Yeah we claim 6 and could claim 10 or 11. UGA claims 4 and could claim 8. I have no problem with claiming natties cause that’s just part of college football. However yall claimed things from pre WW1 which are just dumb. You don’t see Texas, LSU, or Tennessee claiming our undefeated teams from that time period. And the optics of doing it now smells like desperation. Y’all should’ve always claimed more than 2 but jumping from 2 to 9 when about 4 of those are iffy isn’t a good look. Shoulda waited until yall had a winning season then claimed 3 more that you have a legit claim to. Especially when almost everyone who follows football can remember those teams and the game itself wasn’t a completely different sport. Just a poorly handled situation all the way around when it coulda been done in a pretty convincing way

I actually don’t like Aaron Murray so I find that picture hilarious. He had a nice career but he was no Stetson Bennett.
But to get back to my original point, I used to say to myself, “shite, we have to play Auburn next week.” Now I get the same feeling playing Auburn as I do before playing Miss State. That feeling of, “Yes, this will be an easy SEC win. And we will likely have the opportunity to rest our starters.”
