But we can find tons of things going back in time where there was some kind of SC-Clemson fight just because it was Clemson and South Carolina

I think what makes our rivalry a little different was that there have been very long periods of time when both programs weren't good and bragging rights between each other was the big event. Also, being in a smaller state where there are only 2 major colleges adds a little more to history. Many of the better rivalries have programs that are long-time major programs that even when the team is bad, the program is so big it's still a national event.

Clemson-USC is a very local and very personal rivalry. If South Carolina every get it's shite together and the final game has national playoff implication for both teams it would be cool.

sums it up.

Especially on the national level.

Clemson now gets the press from being good in football, but it's not close to the Iron Bowl, OSU-Mich, USC ND etc.

But I'd say the hate between both schools (and I'm saying schools not just fanbases) is one of the largest.

I agree. I didn’t like the 5 years of Carolina wins, but I think it’s better when both teams go in playing for a 10th or 11th win.

I do. Give money and make the drive up the mountains to all the home games at Carson Newman. I have for many years. Outside of East Tennessee not a lot of people have ever heard of Carson Newman. I only went for one reason.

I can't see average person outside of the fanbases caring about any of those games unless there were playoff implications.

I don't hate SC grads and/ or fans.

The hate is generally between the sidewalk fans of the two colleges.

Really?

What rivalry would you say the “average person” would like?
Because in my experience these are the rivalries an “average CFB fan” talk about

There are some old school grads that really hate but yes the hate among sidewalkers is far greater
