What do you mean by that?

Someone posted here the other day that all this is a nefarious plot to screw up everything that rural Southern conservatives hold dear. My wording may have been clumsy but I was attempting to point out that Alston wasn’t decided by the Warren Court.

That’s just stupid. Any real conservative would be on the side that votes against the NCAA. I don’t know how anyone could justify a different opinion.

No, Only in a communist government. Can’t cap free market. You’re worth what someone will pay. Try to cap pay for doctors and lawyers and see what happens. Back to court.

Maybe but it won’t matter.

Let’s say they did create a salary cap. Why do you think people will start following the rules all of a sudden? Cheating unfortunately is ingrained in the College football culture. I don’t know how you stamp it out at this point

Only if Congress grants the NCAA an anti-trust exemption. Along with a ton of additional powers not granted to any other entity.

Think about what you're asking for. You're asking, under current law, for Congress to step in and make illegal a willing third party eagerly giving money to a sovereign person - to undertake an activity, playing college sports - that is perfectly legal.

How do you institute a "salary cap" if I, as a free man with legal cash, choose to piss it away by gifting a college ball player ? How can you possibly tell me, in a legal manner, that I can't give my money ... freely ... to whomever I wish ?
