The players UT had in the 90's are the exact same players Clemson has now. Clemson is dominating recruiting in NC, SC, VA

UGA SHOULD be on that list, but they haven’t earned it. Built in recruiting advantages, just can’t seem to finish.

Uga is good at worst, and has played at an elite level 2 years in a row. Thats not good for the vols.

The state of Tennessee produces far more talent than South Carolina. VOLS had far nicer facilities up until recently as well (which Clemson can attribute to their success under Dabo).

And before Dabo, Clemson wasn’t exactly going down into Florida and Georgia and taking elite guys like they are now. And in VOLS heyday, they were going into Georgia and Carolinas and taking whoever they wanted.

Like I said, the only difference between the vast majority of programs in the Southeast is just the coach. Clemson’s recipe for success is identical to what Phil was doing in his prime.

Every program has nice facilities and money to spend now. Just about lucking out on a hire

Might wanna do some fact checking there, buddy.

As odd as it seems, SC has out recruited Clemson for this state's top talent.

Nope. We're forever doomed just like Bleacher Report says and Bleacher Report is always right.

If LSU can come back from 30 years of underwhelming mediocrity from 1971-2000 winning only 2 SEC Championships to have a good run under Saban and then Miles for a few years until Saban ruined his career, then Tenner can.

They never were, TBH...

That lucky natty they won with Tee Martin was an anomaly, not elite.

It’s not surprising they aren’t elite, but my god they have been trash for 20 years.

Yes. Here's a question for you. Will Alabama be on top from now throughout eternity?

Better chance of that than Tenner coming back to be honest. But if a team like LSU can come back from 3 decades of mediocrity so can Tenner.

I know they were never elite. They were good, but not close to elite. Nothing personal.

The value of this for the Vols is mythical. Washington DC is almost as close to Knoxville as Memphis. There are probably eight SEC schools closer to Memphis than UT is.

Well it’s a good thing Murfreesboro/Nashville is where most of the talent is now.

Go play dumb elsewhere

Granted, Alabama's eliteness has gone in cycles. But given that the first of those cycles started almost 100 years ago, this isn't nearly as ridiculous a question as it may seem. As long as college football continues to exist, eventually you will have to deal with an elite Alabama again.

Look who's talking about playing dumb. No surprise there.

6 of the top 12 currently are from Memphis.

You were saying???

Make that nine of the top 22.

Yeah....no. The decade between Stallings and Saban was anything but good. It was mediocre to terrible.
