t's always ironic to me when people in the media say that Gus has Saban's number. Look at how Gus's offenses perform against Alabama defenses.

2013: 28 points
2011: 0 points
2010: 28 points
20109: 21 points

So how does that compare to sabans defenses PPG scored by offenses those years prior to the game?

He had two feet out the door in his first season at AU?

However, Auburn was depleted by the draft the previous. They had not stock piled talent the manner LSU/Bama did in the previous years, so they relied on RS and true freshmen to fill many of their offensive roles. Roles they were just not quite ready for. Throw in that he was looking around for a new home, and no it was not his true offense. For Example, Tre Mason was a true freshman in 2011. 2009 they had to rely on Chris Todd to lead them.

Yep, all 4 players taken in the 2011 draft really depleted that roster.

You had a Heisman winning RB, and a Heisman runner up at RB. Seems solid.

They played defense that game?

All your claims aren't doing anything to prove that Saban has Gus's number or figured out. Gus's numbers last year were better than they have ever been. If anything Gus is figuring Saban out.

The 2010 team lost Cam Newton, Eric Smith, Darvin Adams, Terrell Zachery, Kodi Burns, Lee Ziemba, Mike Berry, Ryan Pugh, Byron Isom and others from the offense. All mentioned just then were starters on just offense. The defense lost Nick Fairley, Zach Clayton, Antoine Carter, Craig Stevens, Josh Bynes, Zac Etheridge, Mike McNeil and others. The roster was definitely depleted of experience and depth during the 2011 season.

No, but you did have Nico Johnson, Dre Kirkpatrick, Cj Mosely, De Miliner, Mark Barron, Josh Chapman, Donta Hightower, DeQuan Menzie, Courtney Upshaw, and Jerrell Harris on Defense.

It's a amazing how when a thread is going well and there's actual discussion going on, antibarner can swoop in and douche it up. You can't even be mad. It's a God given talent.

This was covered in a previous thread, but to recap:

2013: 28 points AU: 39.5 ppg (-11.5) UA: 15.1 ppg(+12.9)
2011: 0 points AU: 25.7 ppg (-25.7) UA: 7.7 ppg(-7.7)
2010: 28 points AU: 41.6 ppg (-13.6) UA: 14.1 ppg (+13.9)
20109: 21 points AU: 33.1 ppg -(12.1) UA: 12.9 ppg (+8.1)

So when Gus and Saban meet:
Gus's teams score an average of 15.73 points less than his season average.
Saban's defenses give up an average of 6.8 points more than his season average for that year.

Seems pretty clear that Gus suffers much more from playing Saban than the other way around.

ETA: These are simply the point totals for the season with special teams and defensive scores factored in. Logically their outcome on the averages of the whole season is negligible, but large in a one game scenario. If anyone would like to add those up, I'd be happy to edit the original post without def/ST scores.

Yup, so there went Dakota Mosley, Antonio Goodwin, Shaun Kitchens and Mike McNeil out the door...

I'm not sure what's funny. Auburn's roster was very depleted after the 2010 season. I just listed a ton of starts we lost.

Sorry, I was under the assumption that recruiting was part of college football.

At least you kept Neiko. I'm glad he didn't jump to the draft.

So we give Malzahn credit for what he was able to do with the bare cupboard that TT left in 2009, but don't knock him when he's miserable with his first class of recruits that would have been juniors coming into the 2011 season?

Neiko Thorpe actually improved after his move to safety. He was still pretty terrible, but we didn't have to worry about Greg Childs, Julio Jones, AJ Green, and Alshon Jeffery torching him all game.

And I was under the assumption that you were talking about them not having solid points against an excellent run defense. Coming back to win by one on the road no less. You're rebuttal?

Makes you wonder why he is only 2-2 against Gus' offense then.

Bro, Auburn lost roughly 32 combined players after the 2010 season. I'm just telling you that the roster was, indeed, depleted at the time. You don't need to bring up anymore irrelevant information.
