Your link leads me to the front page of ESPN. Judging by your quoted text, this has to do with the ranking process. Nowhere does it say that just because a team drops in ranking, it takes away the fact that you’ve beaten a top 10 ranked team. Thats why, when the announcers bring up LSU’s schedule, they mention a top 10 Texas, Florida, and will now mention an Auburn win.

I think UGA beats UF. Maybe that puts AU back in the top 10, a team that Bama will also play..

But it's very possible by game-time of LSU\Bama, that neither will have a win vs. a top 10 team.

So now the measure of playing a decent team is if they are current top ten at the end of year ? What about current top 15 or even current top 25? How many has LSU played versus Bama?

Also you should probably also alert all the voters in the various polls (as well as the playoff committee who are rumored to put LSU #1 or 2 in the first CFB playoff poll coming out next week) based on the strength of schedule everyone keeps talking about— if you only explain to them how the system really works surely they will quickly drop LSU of of the top 25.

Many, many, many teams would be 8-0 with your schedule. Duke was a real juggernaut.

So you think Bama will drop out of the top 10 after taking a lose at the hands of LSU? I don’t think bama will drop that far.

Well, when they lose 3 or 4 more, it kind of loses it luster

Hey YON go check your coach's career record. It will include record VS top 10 opponents. Those numbers represent wins and losses at time of game. That is said coach's official record. Not adjusted to end of season numbers.

) The permanemt cross divisional rivals are really the only difference in the schedule, and L8U bitches about having to play Florida every fricking year. WTF has UF done since 2008? Yet L8U acts like Urban Meyer is still on the sidelines.

Not complaining here. This is one of my favorite games every year.

Aren't they usually the count where they are ranked at the end of the year crowd?

Do you seriously think that your wins count at the time they were ranked instead of where they currently at? According to this thread, it appears so.

According to ESPN talking heads yes it does. I disagree entirely as it should be how you finish but apparently I don’t make the rules.

And what happens when LSU beats bama, UF beats UGA? Will come back here and say LSU has 3 legit top 10 wins?

I’m glad you asked. Since then Florida has gone 93-56, winning the east 4 times.meanwhile Tennessee has gone 64-67

Yeah, I've never heard sportswriters, poll voters, or coaches, or players make the distinction of a team's ranking when played vs. how they finished. That's only bullshite dweebs on message boards concocted.

A ranking is a snapshot of teams at any point in time. It's disingenuous to act like a loss or injury doesn't affect the trajectory of a team.

A Texas win over LSU could have affected the entire outcome of their season and ours. Matchups like that can be pivotal.
