General comment on whoever is the next HC. The spring and fall training camps and expectations are thru the roof. All benefits of the rabid fans and press are sky high. Talking Dynasty Part Deux. Then it happens - the first loss and lets say it was because the newbie is out coached. It's gonna happen, sooner or later. I'd like to just be selling torches, matches and pitchforks cause it'll be fun to watch Bama Nation melt. Hope the new guy anticipates and weathers the storm.

You do realize that whoever gets the job is going to have the legs kicked out from him every chance, right? No coach will be able to take a piss at Alabama without someone reminding them that that’s not how Saban would have done it.

No way Kiffin bolts Ole Miss.
I think he's happy there. I think he is winning, and next year looks to be equal or better than this one. He will have a CFP team next year.
Also, Kiffin can pretty much be himself without the microscope that he would constantly have up his arse at BAMA about his PC image, etc.
Lastly, Kiffin would miss all that lovely blonde sorority tail in the Grove. Who wouldn't?

I think I get your point, but if I were a hot, up and coming coach I would stay as far away from Alabama as I could......unless I was at a lower tier school and going to Alabama was the best and fastest way to build a resume and my own brand. Lanning has that ability at Oregon.
You have to be a different kind of cat to be a truly elite coach. Their egos are through the roof, and anyway they go, they're financially set for life. With the kind of money head coaches are paid now, the pressure to win immediately, and persistently, is intense everywhere. May as well coach at a place that has proven it has the resources, and culture necessary to win it all.

I think he was banking on this happening next year. He is selling out for a flash year for 2024. His recruiting/lack of recruiting outside the transfer portal is not sustainable.

Let’s just assume everyone is on the table, who does Bama want most?
Saban
Smart
Sark
Schumann
They won't pick Schumann, but they clearly should..

Young, dumb and full of...
A couple of reasons. First is there is no downside and only upside. If he fails horribly he has a ready made excuse and a proven track record as high end coordinator. If, on the other hand he manages to keep Alabama at the level Saban is leaving it in...and there is a serious possibility the machine can continue with the way its built...he will be driving a rolls royce while everybody else is driving a ford.
And seriously he is young and its the best opportunity one could ever dream of. He wouldn't be where he is if he was not certain he has what it takes. Self confidence is not one of his shortcomings from all appearances...I would bet he is confident he will make Alabama BETTER...not just maintain what it is. Unless the money is not right he'd be a damned fool not to take the job if offered.

2nd tier candidates if by some chance Kiffin decided to stay in Oxford:
5. Ryans
But why would he leave Houston? I have yet to hear a convincing answer why.
