It's true. They colored in the national championship portion on their pyramid, and the rings are going to say national champions I think. There's really nothing the NCAA can do about it since they don't recognize a champion

wow. and the irony of your sig is extraordinarily up there now. Is there anything that at least awarded them the championship?

I like TCU and support Patterson, but this isn't the greatest way to be taken seriously, IMO. I think it cheapens the accomplishment of the team to claim a national title.

2006 Rose Bowl Highlights Part 1

2006 Rose Bowl Highlights Part 2

2006 Rose Bowl Highlights Part 3

You can't honestly watch those and say that the 2011 BCS National Championship was more exciting and the best of all the BCS title games.

I will sound biased here because I'm an Alabama fan, but why shouldn't TCU claim a title? They went 14-0, just like Auburn, and they beat a heavily favored #3 Wisconsin team in the Rose Bowl.

Because they weren't national champions.

What makes a team a national champion? TCU has had back-to-back undefeated regular seasons. They have done everything that has been asked of them. Boise State and TCU both started out above Auburn in the rankings and yet TCU and Boise ended up being jumped by Auburn as well as by other teams.

This is why I fully endorse a playoff. I believe that teams like TCU and Boise State should get a fair shake. They get screwed while Independents like Notre Dame only have to win 9 games to get into a BCS game. Boise State and TCU have to run the table or they get stuck in the Humanitarian Bowl.

I want a playoff. I just loathe the idea of automatic bids. A team has to earn their spot and not get one because they played in a shitty conference. A playoff with the top 8 teams ranked in the BCS would be a dream come true for me.

except schedule better opponents.

With this logic, you wouldn't have any issue with Auburn claiming 2004 then? Don't be stupid here, we don't claim it and I hope we never do. If they want to buy their own rings and run around saying they were champions to feel better, fine. But, in the end, all it does it make them a laughing stock.

At the moment? Finish at the top of the AP or Coaches Poll. It may not always have been that way, but it is right now. I agree that TCU did deserve a shot, but they still weren't national champions this year.

In our current system, over who? Us or Oregon? Auburn played a top 10 toughest schedule in the nation and won everything in front of them. Oregon beat the shite out of everyone they played except that they really didn't play but one or two good teams.

well i guess in their defense, Bama claims 4 or 5 from a nothing group that isn't around anymore.

Neither. I'd like a plus 1 or 4 team playoff.

It's different for the past. The AP/Coaches Poll weren't always the the poll you needed to win to be considered national champions. It is now, but it wasn't always like that.

How does a playoff eliminate automatic bids? Look at Seattle this year in the NFL. Even with a playoff, you're still going to have teams like UConn getting an bid into a playoff. That's a requirement for a NCAA sponsored and approved NC -see March Madness with every conference champ getting an invite.

The thing that hurst college football is that teams outside of the SEC, Big 12, Big 10, and Pac 10 know if they lose a single game they are out of contention. If you lose your first game, the dreams of a NC are over even if you win out.

Everyone knows that a playoff system is badly needed,,thats the only way a TRUE national champion will ever be crowned...if your team is as good as you say it is,it shouldnt matter how they get to the NCG..

Im all for a legit playoff system in college football.......

Did I miss something? The NFL shorten it's season to 13 games?

I'm not in favor of ruining the best regular season in all of sports. Any playoff should be small. The biggest I'd want to see is 6 teams. 8 teams with no auto-bids wouldn't be the worst. A 16 team playoff sounds awful.
