First of all, i know the Donnan family personally. Coach is 100% a teetotaler and has been as long as I've known him.
Second of all i think he sounds fine on the radio. He has some insightful observations, some great stories, is funny as hell, and despite everything has remained loyal to UGA.
As a coach he was a good recruiter and an innovative offensive mind. He happened to be in the SEC East during the heyday of Fulmer and Spurrier. His results could not match his swagger.
The mess with QC left a stain, and there was some shady stuff with him and the president of Uga (under the table money). That probably hurt his prospects. Plus he was feisty with fans and the media and that didn't help his cause either.
But make no mistake about it, and take it to the bank, Coach Donnan does not drink alcohol.
I'll take you at your word.
On the radio, he sounds like he drinks alot, just a way of saying his mind isn't as sharp as it used to be, no insult to him, I have family members that age with the same issue, and they didn't play football in the 60's when concussions were punished with more concussions.
My main point is that he won't be coaching again.

I disagree with you whole-heartedly. When yall are hanging out on the golf course, this may be the case. On the radio, he sounds senile.

This part is true, I agree, and I love him for it. I don't know why... he was only the coach for a relatively short period of time, had no history here before that, but remained a UGA guy the rest of his life, still living in Athens.
Actually, I can understand why. It's a great program with great traditions and Athens is a great town.

Donnan gave us some good memories, brought in a ton of talent, but no coach can lose to Tech 3 years in a row and survive.

I like him when he is on 680 the fan. He seems very likeable.
But I was in school back then and I'm bitter about a few schools who had his number and have sucked since then (GT being one of them). You are damn right that it is an unforgivable offense.

Jim Donnan allowed the inmates to run the asylum. He was abrasive to fans, the media and genuine UGA legends and backers. He would eventually get a program in trouble.....and without winning much if anything in the process....that was his biggest sin....if you are going to be an a-hole and push the limit on the rules you'd better bring home the bacon....and he wasn't capable of doing that. UGA dodged a bullet with Donnan......that and losing to Tech.....

WTF are you talking about?Jesus,
Just saying I used to see em playing golf anf spending time at ACC before and after his legal issues and he still lives in the same house.
Must have negotiated a pretty good deal in bankruptcy court

He had interest from other schools but chose to remain a grand dad and stay in a town he loves.
