I think so but I think beating Tenn if Williams gets shut down and waters has a good game, that might be enough

Stop it.

Waters will have to have an incredible stretch to close the season to even be considered. It's a two-person race right now between Washington and Williams.

That doesn’t make any sense though. Waters has had a better back 2/3 of the season than both of them. It’s not even close

Last 18 games (2/3 of total games played)

Player A

18.9 PPG
7.2 RPG
3.1 APG
2.0 TOPG
1.5 BPG
1.3 SPG

57.4% FG (109/190)
61.0% 2FG (103/169)
28.6% 3FG (6/21)
85.1% FT(115/135)

Player B

17.7 PPG
3.2 RPG
6.0 APG
3.4 TOPG
0.1 BPG
3.0 SPG

45.6% FG (107/235)
53.3% 2FG (71/133)
35.3% 3FG (36/102)
80.9% FT (68/84)

Is "not even close" in favor of Player B your final answer?

Waters has been better when it matters. I think that counts for something. Obviously all 3 of them are great players

Also, and to be fair we will say all of the assists are twos for Waters, which they aren’t, but that hurts your arguent even more. Via the stats that you posted,

Waters is responsible for 17 + 12 = 29 PPG

Williams is responsible for 18 + 6 = 24 PPG

If you factor in that about 1/3 of Waters’bassists are threes, and he gets 3 steals a game, which is ridiculous, the gap grows even wider. Like I said, they have both been great but I think Waters is a bigger asset to his team

Does TW single-handedly shitting the game away against Arkansas count for anything?

He may end up winning the award, but for now the answer is “because you’re an LSU fan.

Okay that’s fair.
Winning the SEC tourney wouldn’t matter because the POTY would already be awarded

1. Grant Williams
2a. PJ Washington
2b. Tremont Waters

IMO right now, still putting Grant 1st, but PJ and Tremont are putting serious runs on him after the last week for Williams.

If you factor in that 1/3 of assists are for 3s :

Waters is responsible for 31 PPG / 17+14=31

Williams is responsible for 25 PPG / 18+7=25

When I say when it matters, I mean conference play. Q1 games is far too small of a sample size. Once again the 3 steals a game probably result in more points as well

He keeps playing at the level he is right now he’s got a good shot over Williams. Still think it’s Williams to lose barring a Tennessee collapse.
