LSU had almost zero serious experience at the WR position and in the backfield last year. The leading WR from last year didn't even record a catch the year before as a freshman. The RBs only had a couple of carries going into the season. And Burrow had only been with the team for a few months before the season started.
His numbers were very average, but he started playing really well toward the end of the year. He's tough, can make some really good throws and will have talented WRs with much more experience this year (along with a stud RB behind him). So fans expect a big step up with him actually having experience now with the system and players.

I like Burrow and can’t wait to see what he can’t do with the team this year. He’s the best proven QB we’ve had on the field in a while. Really wish our fans would stop with the constant hype and Heisman posts, though. Let the guy take the field and show what he’s got.

There are true freshman QB's who had better numbers than Burrow (a RS Jr at the time) and they enrolled around the same time or even later, so stop with the excuses
Looks like you fellas are using every analytic and excuse you can to make the guy look better than he is.

We believe he’ll be somewhere between 16 - 44 percent better than last year.
