Why so much conference realignment talk recently?

Is the SEC really that broken? I'm fine with the teams we have now in their current divisions and I don't see how any of these proposals would make the conference noticeably better. I guess people just like to bitch about anything and everything

Gus also discussed it yesterday, so that is part of it

auburn is that broken. Malzhan has realized that he cannot compete in the SEC west and needs an escape plan. He thought basing his entire offense on exploiting a rule would change football but it hasn't. I think a lot of au fans are panicking when they should be trying to rebuild their program.

That still wouldn't remove Georgia from his schedule. If he wanted to escape an almost guaranteed asswhooping every year he should be fighting to get the frick away from Georgia.

Because the current 6-1-1 rotation is crap.
Moving Bama and Auburn to the East and going 6-2 or moving just Auburn and moving to 6-1-2 would be better.

I'll tell you, but you can't tell everyone or let it get out.
The SEC is looking to expand to 16 teams at the bequest of Auburn, who is looking for an excuse to get out of the SECw.
KU and OU are the two likely candidates. The Big12-ish (a.k.a. Texas & Friends) is on the brink of collapse. It's not a matter of if this is going to happen, it's when.

The melt from the aTm fans alone would be worth it. The Mizzou melt would be a nice compliment to it as well.

Its about getting to Atlanta. Would you rather be in a division where Bama and LSU regularly go to Atlanta or a division where Mizzou can go two years in a row?

If we did expand to 16 teams I'd like to see us add two of the following:
Oklahoma
West Virginia
North Carolina/Duke
Virginia Tech
And maybe some other teams if the SEC wanted to start its own intercollegiate league independent from the NCAA:
Penn State
Indiana
Illinois
Iowa
Northwestern

They wouldn't get to Atlanta in the East either
Jeremy Johnson has a better shot at winning the Heisman.
