Hell, I'm from New Orleans and I believe that the state of Mississippi and Ole Miss are unfairly targeted as racist. When I was a student at LSU, we had David Duke in a Nazi uniform preaching hate against blacks and Jews. BTW, why is he perceived as evil and Obama's preacher gets a free pass? This is the fricking present, and not the past. How many blacks today were actual slaves and how many modern day whites owned any? I'm currently living in Montgomery, and not a day goes by when I don't hear something about Rosa Parks, the Civil Rights museum, etc. As an old timer, I see that the only thing that desegregation did was to destroy the values of the American way of life. Blacks wanted to integrate the schools, but guess what, the public schools are still desegregated. Blacks currently attend public schools while the whites fled to private schools. I dare anybody here to go sit in a public school classroom today. The students are not interested in learning. Teachers spend most of their school day correcting the students. Ban me if the administration wants to for me speaking the truth, but the culture of white society and black society clashes. What whites value, blacks don't and vice versa. I'm just sick and tired of what is valued in white society is shot down because of political correctness bullcrap. I loved the Rebel mascot and I'm damn proud of the song, Dixie. BTW, where is the black race ever mentioned in that song?

My scope was too narrow:

Do you seriously believe that the enormous majority of blacks aren't racist?

You do realize the clan has shown up in cities across the nation. Does that mean that in each of those cities a bunch of people are racist?
Not particularly, but when they show up at a specific school on homecoming, it makes a statement

It does make a statement. It states that we did something that the Klan didn't approve of and it pissed them off.
....I guess you guys can be proud that the Klan likes you.

If we can get to Atlanta, I pretty sure much fewer people will complain about this whole mascot situation. But thanks for the effort in writing your post.

What about a majority black school in the early eighties that elected a white homecoming queen and a black teacher told some black students to throw eggs at the queen during the football game? This incident happened in a parish that borders EBR. BTW, the teacher was never disciplined plus the super. was a black man.

Roaad all I'm saying is that Kentucky had both union and confederate governments in place and that one of the stars on the naval jack is for KY. If the war had gone on much longer the rest of the state probably would have seperated from the far eastern part and joined the confederacy.

Actually no, there's no difference the clan makes a statement but considering they in no way shape or form represent the university or it's students it doesn't. Also every UM fan I know was upset they were coming bc of how bad it made UM look

Don't even bother. He's nothing but a flamer not realizing that his flames are degrading his own school as well.

Not me. I could care less if someone calls me a racist because they obviously don't know me for shite.
The perception of my school on the other hand.....

I wish more whites would feel that way...

As to Ole Miss, I respect their tradition & for me, Col. Reb is a mainstay as part of that tradition; I couldn't give a damn if someone finds him offensive. That's what really gets me- anytime a minority finds something 'offensive', once again, whites hurry up to deny the allegations & try to make a change, whether it is right or wrong. Sometimes I think minorities pull this shite just to see how much they can get away with...

I didn't vote and I am as conservative as you will find anyone.
This is all I will say regarding this post.

The confederate support was in a very small minority.
Karl Mark commented on it. Something about if there were 100k people in KY, only 1k would have been inbreeding supporters (read CSA sympathizers).
