If things were right with the world, LSU and Ole Miss would both be fierce rivals the way Texas and Oklahoma are -- while State (the Aggies in this scenario) plays the role of whiny arse little brother kicking our seats and throwing a tantrum in the backseat.
But State has more top 25 finishes (still in the single digits, mind you) than Ole Miss does in the last 42 years so there you have it.
So the Egg Bowl means everything right now to Mississippians.
ETA: Though oddly enough, "The Blind Side" makes little to no mention of that other school in Mississippi. Huh.

Speak for yourself. I HATE BAMA. Always have. I may not consider them the biggest rival, but I hate them more than anyone else. Hell I even rooted for VA Tech(whom I can't stand)

I'd believe most Bama fans would root for LSU when not playing us though. I may be wrong though.
I feel like if I our two programs were twins....
Bama is the straight-laced guy who not a lot of people like as he spends a good deal of time telling people how great he is because he's class valedictorian-people definitely respect his merits, but his attitude turns some people off. While the LSU is class salutatorian who is well liked for his good time spirit and wild partying skills(had a bout with drugs=the 90's)-people are drawn to his attitude, and his ability to still get his shite done.
Auburn and Ole Miss are the younger siblings who are very bipolar. aTm is the adopted baby brother, who has impressed a little, but he comes from a battered home, where he was continually getting beat up by his big brother, UT.
