Yea we tried that. We offered 4 million a year to Greg Marshall. And there is no comparison of Texas in football to Alabama in basketball buddy.

BTW, the top programs do poach big name elite coaches. Roy Williams from Kansas to UNC. Calipari from Memphis to Kentucky.

Pearl has never been worth a shite.......I don’t even know how he’s recruited as well as he has......I mean I do know but ..... the NCAA is going to hammer Auburn and he’s probably not going to be coaching there after this fbi deal is over. Not to mention his own university doesn’t even like him for failing to talk to them about the in his role in the investigation .....which is border line a fireable offense. They were paper tigers this year anyhow so they might as well fire him and save face.

Because it’s not as hard to be a basketball power as it is in football. Villanova is a small catholic school, but they can win a title just as easily as the next school. Also, the schools that are heavily invested in hoops can still afford to pony up money when their football program is FCS.

College basketball coaches Are a dime a dozen.

I could name 20-30 elite basketball coaches.

Ok, i’d say to be an elite coach you would have to win at least 1 nattie and have multiple final fours.
Are there really 30 of those guys out there?

Using that criteria you would have to go back 30 years.

I disagree. IMO, elite college basketball coaches are ones who always find a way to get their teams peaking going into the tournament. I'd consider John Beilein an elite coach even though he doesn't have a national title.

Either all ADs are fools and just never thought, “Hey, maybe it would be a good idea to spend more money to steal that really good and proven coach!” OR

They’ve tried and either A. Not enough money because the over pay necessary wouldn’t be worth it or B. The coach knows every year they will get paid more and instead of jumping to Bama they can wait one more year and jump to a blue blood that will pay even more.

They count as "great" coaches. Not elite.

I don't watch a lof of basketball so my opinion might be shite but it seems like there are more basketball schools than football schools. As in more schools that are seen as destination jobs than football. So there is less desire to move around because coaches are already at somewhere they can win at.

Where did Bruce Pearl touch you brodie?

That's funny because the AU AD just was quoted as saying this today

"The FBI investigation is a long process and we’re going through that process to make sure that we as a university are doing what it is that we’re supposed to do to comply. Coach Pearl has been excellent in that regard."

quote:

which is border line a fireable offense.

Even if he wasn't cooperating, which the Auburn Athletic Director says he's done a great job at,

It actually isn't at all because it falls under Garrity protection during to ongoing FBI investigation

quote:

don’t even know how he’s recruited as well as he has......I mean I do know but .

You do realize AU is just about the only school who has not been accused for pay for play right?

quote:

the NCAA is going to hammer Auburn

You do realize the NCAA has already made rulings against both players involved and have allowed them to retain eligibility right?

quote:

They were paper tigers this year anyhow so they might as well fire him and save face.

Maybe they were paper tigers, but those paper tigers won by double digits against just about every SEC team and were 11-2 until injuries derailed them

You keep doing you tho man
