Because Texas players aren’t anywhere close to what the urban myth says they are. That’s why all the posturing by A&M and Texas is absurd “look at us we have all the resources “.... no you don’t.... results speak for themselves.

Not on defense. That's why the majority of Fisher's defensive commits have been from out of state.
Half of the starting defense is from out of state.

They're average at QB and their o-line is softer than a My Pillow. They will struggle against every team with a decent defense.

They hired a good coordinator that looked like a genuis when he had multiple 1st rd receivers, first round OLs, first rd QBs, and 1st rd RB.

I heard a theory on a talk show that the high ranked Texas players they recruit play such an advanced state of high school football that their ceilings in college are lower than expected. Interesting point but tough to prove
