I just think there are some inherent challenges to being an "A&M" outside of a major city in Texas with a bigger brand in-state.

For sure. They get to basically be the pro team of Austin, which gives them a huge brand boost throughout the state. It is a huge disadvantage for us historically.

But we have our own advantages too. A big one that most people don't realize is that we basically have all the free land we want in College Station. We have been able to build a bunch of nice facilities for cheap because the land is readily available.

They on the other hand are completely landlocked within Austin, and they have to tear something down (aka cost) to build something new (usually vertically, so more per square foot). This should give us a facility advantage for as long as the sport is a bubble.

We combo that with an established coaching brand, an established conference brand, and suddenly we have all the pieces of being a real program without having to actually earn our right to be there. The next step is the hardest one though, where we have to turn on paper advantages to the field.

We just think that is silly to pay a coach who is clearly not better than Saban, more than Saban.

Saban is currently making $12 million a year to Jimbo's $7.5. It will take him a little over 6 years at his current rate to make what Jimbo is contracted for.

That 56-22 mark over 6 seasons is better than Kevin Sumlin's 51-26 mark over 6 seasons.

So now we're comparing him to the guy that just got fired? That's bizarre. Let's compare him to the elite coaches since he's being payed like one.

As long as we're taking away a coach's best two seasons w/his Heisman QB.... in Sumlin's two years w/o Johnny Football he went 31-20 and 1-2 in bowls.

Dunno.

If you have the money and you want to go out and get the best you get the best. It's admirable.

Because he protected a criminal so that he would have a good QB.

By the way, West Texas Intermediate Crude is currently trading at $68.07 per barrel. It has been steadily rising for a year off a low of around $45.89. I'd guess it was around $55 when we made the deal with Jimbo. The point being, we aren't factoring in some sky high $100 barrel oil price to drive donations.
Oil Price

By the way, has anyone yet revealed the name of this other available mystery coach out there that we could have (and should have) hired, who would be both cheaper and probably better than Jimbo? Who is this guy, and why is the market not currently recognizing his true value?

Saban makes like 11m/year. If he coaches 10 more years he will clearly be making more according to basic math

This is not correct. He was paid a four million dollar bonus in '17 which put his total at 11.125. This season he's scheduled to be paid 7.25 million and the same next season.

-$7.125 million in 2018, including a $400,000 contract-year completion payment.
-$7.525 million in 2019 and again in 2020, including contract-year completion payments of $800,000.
-$10.325 million in 2021, including a contract-year completion payment of $3.6 million.
-$7.125 million in each of the deal's final three years, during which each contract-completion payment is scheduled to be $400,000.
