Why is Nick Sabin so much better than all other coaches?

Everyone knows he’s hands down one of the best if not the best college head coaches of all time. The question is how does he do it?

I’d like to see what he could do at Kansas or Rutgers.

His relentless process. He's got it down to a science

The Alabama booster network. It's a machine.

Nick Saban’s Words:

Focus on the process and don’t worry about the end result. By focusing on the process and what’s in front of you the end result will be what you want it to be (victory) more times than none.

In other words, what he tells his players is to not look at the scoreboard during the course of the game but instead focus on whipping the man in front of you (the process....).

That comes from a couple of players I personally know that played for Saban when he coached at LSU.

He also doesn’t worry about all of the extra curricular bullshite that other coaches worry about.

ETA: he’s very detail oriented and places extremely high expectations on his players and staff. Just about a perfectionist.
Which is why you always hear people say he’s an arse to work with/for.

Never fails lol. Either Ticket Prices OR Spelling / Grammatical Errors. These are the only 2 reasons you’ll come crawling out of your hole.

The process. Never have a tangible goal or end result but continuously focus on winning the next play.

Not once has Saban said our goal is to win the sec, win the national title. He says our goal is to get better every day.
He feels that if u set tangible goals (getting to a bowl for example) then once u reach the goal u are satisfied and stop working. U walk into the Alabama complex and u will not see a list of goals anywhere.

1) Lots of Pro experience
2) As such, lots of Pro mentors to learn from
3) Unique Mindset - Discipline and Process Ownership and Tough-mindedness....who also learned how to adapt.
4) Played a Cognitive, Big Picture position as a player. (DB)
5) Cache. Carries himself to demand respect.
6) Winning begets winning and recruiting.
7) 57 miles from SEC HQ's
8) He's a driven SOB with exceptional work ethics.

That's a start.

He actually does work harder, recruit better, and prioritize better than normal humans. He is abnormal. Kind of an eccentric genius with a competitive disorder and unquenchable drive. Kind of a Michael Jordan, Steve Jobs type. There is no one else in coaching like him.
