Why is it so hard for AU fans to believe they will tumble a bit in 2011?

the last few SEC teams after their National title:
UF: 4 losses in 2007 (returned 7 starters w/QB)
LSU: 5 losses in 2008 (returned 12 w/o QB)
Florida: 1 loss in 2009 (returned 18 w/ QB)
Bama: 3 losses in 2010 (returned 11 w/QB)
Auburn: ? losses in 2011 (10 starters return w/o QB)
all these teams lost less than AU has from last year's team save for UF who returned their QB.

it's not. which auburn fans are you talking to about 2011? There are ignorant people who are fans of every school, but most people who actually attended AU realize/comprehend that 2011 is going to be a down year.

I have't seen a single Auburn fan realistically claim we'll make a very legitimate run at the conference or BCS.
We just wanna see how some of our players pan out. A lot of upside, but people around the conference just assume that since their names aren't Nick or Cam that they're scrubs.

I personally haven't heard many if any say they think they will be as good as 2010. I have heard a lot say they think they could win 10 or 11 games which to me is very unrealistic. I say maybe 9 wins, but more likely 7 or 8 wins.

Ever since the BCS Era only one SEC team has had fewer than 3 losses in the season after their national title season.

If you wanna talk shite to us about 2012, then that's fair game. Most of us are very excited for that team.
But 2011 I think we have pretty realistic expectations. Some SECrantards think we're delusional because we don't think the floor will fall out from beneath us.

Auburn should be content with a 9-3 record, expecting 8-4.

I think that is what most AU fans do think. AU did lose a LOT, but we have 2 of the best recruiting classes probably since the Cadillac, Brown, Campbell era, so we are still excited to see how these younger players come in and play. I think there will be growing pains this year, but watch our for 2012.
