Varsity was actually the name of the program back then, they had actually just gotten their first mascot around that time. It wasn't until later that they adopted the Longhorn moniker as their official team name.
Pro tip when trolling, don't get taken to the woodshed on your fake teams history to avoid looking like a fool.
