You used to be more sensible and smarter than this. What happened?

How often does a team that loses to an FCS team/goes down to the wire with an FCS team come back to have a successful season?
There's your factual argument. See how easy that was?

The issue isn't the defense. It's the offense.
People will point to the yards we gave up to JSU. That's fine, but at the end of the day, scoring defense is what matters. Sure JSU scored 20, but if AU had hung 40, 50 or 60 on them, no one would give a rat's arse about the yards.
JJ's stats are bad and the interceptions he's thrown were bad. Add that to the fact he hasn't been a run threat and people are worried, myself included.
I did read something (and I hope it's true) that stated the coaches attributed JJ's performance in the first game to nerves and that's why it was more of the same in the JSU game. But now that they see there is another issue, they will scheme around it. And you also have optimistic people who believe based on Gus' play calling historically and through the first two games he is doing the minimum to win.
We'll see this weekend. If the team can't get excited and play with some energy for this game then it's going to be a long season.

I think gus will implement a passing strategy similar to what Les wants. Shorter than five yards or longer than 15 and outside the hashes. Gus will come up with some shorts routs out of the backfield and will throw a ton of eye candy presnap to mix with zone read and option stuff. Most people thin JJ isn't a great runner but Malzahn will scheme for him. I don't think this game is anything but a ground and pound game.

not sure this is true, i know AU is one of three teams that have finished in the top ten in recruiting for the last three years, the other two being Bama and FSU.

It will be interesting to see if we get the run game established early. In the JSU game it took 3 quarters to get going. Some of that was because Avery Young on the o line was out and all the players shifted positions for the JSU game.
I think you're right. I think this will be a ground and pound game.

No one has produced a single factual argument that supports Auburn not being improved.
I haven't read a single factual argument on this board in a very long time. this board is not high on facts. Auburn is assumed bad because they have struggled so far this year. it means nothing. Auburn is a damn good football team and I guarantee that team will play a damn good game Saturday.

Is he back?
I believe so.

Right tackle Avery Young is expected to return to the field after missing the Tigers' 27-20 victory against Jacksonville State due to an unspecified injury. Offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee said the junior has "practiced well" this week as Auburn prepares for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff Saturday at No. 13 LSU.

I'm sorry, but LSU has no room to talk on this front. Regardless, AU playing lesser teams close is nothing new, even in the great years.

I never stated I thought AU was the #6 team, and it's evident they aren't. Precisely why preseason rankings are a joke.

There are actually two others, as I have shown above. I'm honestly not sure where he got those numbers from.

Auburn fans claim the biggest improvements are made between games 1 and 2.
Based on that claim, they're gonna suck.

You said "talent rich teams struggle against inferior opponents"... we played Miss State. MSU =/= JSU.

Sorry I didn't specify.. "Historically" LSU has a tendency to play down to their opponent, just like AU.
