I think you would lose. Gurley was a track star in high school.
You are the second person to claim this. Would you like to take a ban bet on it? The first guy thought about it and decided better of it.

Probably a fair assessment considering the offensive lines
This is everybody's go to excuse. Did anybody see how awful our line was last year? Did anyone watch the Oklahoma game?

No I didn't. you just didn't read what I said, apparently

Before last season, Alabama's OL was ranked as the 8th best in college football and Georgia's was ranked as the 10th best.
Key Words. Here's an article that ranks how well offensive lines performed after last season based on certain factors.
FBS 2013 Offensive Line Rankings
You'll notice that Bama blows UGA out of the water in most categories that measure run blocking.

I think so. Isn't that the game where Derrick Henry busted up Oklahoma for 100 yards on just 8 carries?

Richardson and Ingram were MAJOR, like all time, NFL busts, and whether it's fair or not the media responds to that.
RIchardson sure but Ingram? Are you high?

And Gurley does? I'll bet my account that Yeldon runs a faster 40 than Gurley at the combine.

May be, but their production on the field is no different and in this sport that's what counts.
I would say fumbles count as negative production.
Also look at the OL they run behind.

Plus the Georgia Wrs/passing game was decimated by injuries, so everyone knew Gurley was getting the ball.
Good point.

Before last season, Alabama's OL was ranked as the 8th best in college football and Georgia's was ranked as the 10th best.
That's only because UGA's Oline had a lot of returners. As per usual, they underachieved. Meanwhile, Bama's O.line was elite in every game except VT and Oklahoma.

And exactly how do you know that?
The 40's on that website are complete and total guesses. If you don't know that there is no helping you.

What the hell does this have to do with anything?
Offense can focus on the running game more and less on keeping it close.

GTFO Bama's O.line was fantastic except VS VT and Oklahoma. That's piss poor.

Ok. So what you have told us in this thread is, that Gurley has put up better numbers, he has fumbled less, and he has run behind a lesser offensive line.
YOU have made each of these points.
Why do you have to ask why Gurley is ranked higher?
Posted on 5/22/14 at 1:49 pm to BamaDoc14
Because the cast surrounding Gurley isn't near the same level as the cast around Yeldon. You could stick a high school kid behind Bama's line and he would still be effective.

Just wait for this year. Gurley's gonna pull way the frick ahead of Yeldon.

Yes, it is different. maybe not a LOT different, but Gurley's numbers are better
30 yards and 1 TD
Are they better, or not?

Theres another stat Yeldon has over Gurley and its call rings... Plus as a freshman Yeldon had the game winning catch and run to beat LSU. I will say this though i'd take either one of them on my team without a single complaint given. A healthy Gurley or a Yeldon that holds on to the ball make great RB's.

Gurley has the manlier name.

I'll tell you what. I'll do a ban bet on what you want, if you will do a ban bet on who has the better statistics, fumbles less and runs behind a lesser offensive line.
You made all the points that Gurley is the better back, then you want to ask why he is considered the better back?

What did Yeldon do?

Todd Gurley runs a 4.3 40 yard dash.

Yeldon runs a 4.43
Yeldon, who was also a first-team ASWA All-State selection, runs a 4.43-second 40-yard dash. He is expected to enroll at Alabama in January.

With those numbers, you should be pretty confident in taking my ban bet, right?

I'll trust the SEC coaches who put Yeldon on the 1st team ALL-SEC team and didn't even put Gurley on the second team.
