Georgia may not have been as successful as UA and UT but they were no less part of the face of southern football for whatever reason. I wasnt around back then so I really couldnt tell you.
But UA and UT built the SEC. Literally and figuratively. And then carried it on their backs for quite a while. They are the definition of old money in this league. If LSU is just now starting to catch up to UT, as you said in your post, then that tells me without having to even look any further that they are new money.

As a LSU fan what I see quite often is younger guys only remembering 90's nadir then Saban turnaround. The previous 90 years weren't too bad at all.
