Because it’s only a thing when lsu plays. This fake tradition is only trotted out when we play, so we are the only two fanbases that give a shite about it.

Jimmy Buffett literally learned to play guitar while attending Auburn and you don't see us getting wet over him

The thing I don't get is how the announcers and media try to make this seem like it's one of college football's Great Traditions.

What?

It's not even as old as this "magnolia bowl" between LSU/OM. That is not a tradition either.

I will say the vibe of that Tom Petty song, and well Tom himself, does embody the gators in one important way- They are both dead.

Too soon? Maybe for Petty.

Two dead and irrelevant programs draw no interest so the media needs to create fake drama to generate some semblance of excitement

Cool. LSU won two more with Matt’s at qb between your two most recent ones and also played for another with only 2/3 of a functioning team.

The weird thing is how triggered they are by our band.

How dare a band have the temerity to...play music at a football game.

In UF's defense, their program is arse and has been for a long time now. They're already pre-pissed off playing LSU because they know what's about to happen.

Joe Tessitore sure talked about it a lot.

He tried his best to incorporate it into the game by justifying that UF's "mini flurry" at the beginning of the 4th quarter was a direct result of the between quarters sing-along.

I don't know, I had to get up in front of class and sing cheeseburger in paradise to not get a D on a report card one six weeks.

Now I'm thinking that teacher might have been an Auburn fan.

We’ve literally done it every home game since he passed. Every single one.

LINK

When he played halftime at Super Bowl XLII, the NFL Network asked him which team he and the Heartbreakers were pulling for.

Patriots or Giants?

“We’re Gators, man,” he said.

I Won't Back Down is a great song to play at a football game regardless.

I mean yeah, it's kinda weird and kinda gay, but after watching A&M's shite, this just doesn't really move the hate needle for me.
