It’s easy to dump a shitload of money into football which hs always been on the precipice of what we finally have now.
Baseball was for a longtime easy to just get by on a good coach (Dave Perno) and not have to worry about facilities.
In the mid to late 2000s, Carolina built founders, LSU built the new Box, Ole Miss started updating Swayze, etc
Our administration either assumed we would carry on the momentum from 2008 or just didn’t care if we did.
At about the same time, UGA lost two baseball players to unrelated freak accidents that left them both paralyzed and Perno lost it. This came on the heels of a very public pissing match between Vince Dooley and our old school President (a bonafide cocksucker) which led to a series of “yes men” ADs who were hired to manage accounts rather than dream big and support the programs during what had become a massive facilities race across the SEC in all sports.
To this point, Foley just doesn’t reflect any kind of ambition toward taking the sport serious relative to other programs we have to compete with. It’s not the size of the stadium, it’s the unfinished look down the lines and in the outfield. It’s the shitty speakers and old football scoreboard repurposed for baseball. Everything about the program looks like it’s wearing hand me downs from football; it has no personality of its own which is important in college baseball.
What has to happen is we have to finish building out the whole baseball complex and bring in an actual visionary at coach who sees the overwhelming potential of the recruiting area. Problem is baseball is one of many programs (Softball, Track, Basketball) that is long overdue for attention. I think Josh Brooks is a good young AD and can do those things but it’s going to take time to line everything up and get the work done.
My biggest qualm is that we haven’t released a Master Plan for athletic facilities since 2003. Why we can’t make a public pronouncement about what we want to accomplish and by when, I have no clue.
TLDR - We just got caught back up in football facilities, we have yet to do what is necessary in baseball to be competitive in the modern SEC. Question now is when we will get around to it

A 'normal discussion' on THIS forum?! You're uh, joking right? I haven't been on here long and I tried to have some normal decent convos with all fans of different fanbases. I figured out real quick, that's not possible on here. For starters, there are some who, when they see you're a fan of one of their rivals, they're gonna downvote and then attack you, even if you started a thread about what a wonderful person their mother was.
