Serious answer? We're not. One reporter, from Austin, with a terrible track record, states that. Now, it is true they were scared to play TAMU in 2012 and also true we offered to continue the series when we came over to the SEC and they said no. Not our problem. Next.

Here's the deal:
This is all very transparent. It's so obvious, a blind man could see it. Texas desperately wants and needs to play A&M. It's why they convince their lackey Chip Brown to write stories designed to make A&M look scared to play Texas; they are hoping to put public pressure on A&M to play them. Why are they so desperate to play A&M?
Because they are getting their arse kicked (consistently) on the recruiting trail. If this continues, they will soon find themselves with a significantly less talented roster than the one in College Station. A&M, rather than Texas, has become to landed ground for most of the state's top talent. Their only chance to stem the tide is to play and beat A&M.
A&M, on the other hand, has very little to gain by playing Texas. Why risk overturning the current applecart?
Yes, we've been a mediocre SEC West team the last two years, but we're slowly building a more talented roster than we've ever had. Losing to Texas could potentially change the recruiting dynamic, while beating them just keeps things the same. Nothing to gain.
Translation: You scurred.
I do understand the rationale though.

Texas can gain huge mo by beating TAMU, who although not matching up head to head, has stayed in the spotlight more than Texas in the last couple years (for good things, at least).
So they have something to gain by playing TAMU. TAMU, however, has nothing to gain in a practical sense. They're still ahead of Texas for the moment, and a loss would be pretty devastating.
That said, I do think the pendulum is shifting, and that a year or two from now it will become pretty apparent that if TAMU is still declining to play Texas, they're simply frightened of moving more toward their traditional spot as #2. But, I agree there is no incentive to play Texas right now.

I would love for Arkansas to play Texas this bowl season.

Where do you mouth breathers get your info from?
Dodds says schedule full
They left

“They left,” Dodds said. “They're the ones that decided not to play us. We get to decide when we play again. I think that's fair. If you did a survey of our fans about playing A&M, they don't want to. It's overwhelming. I know. I hear it. Our fans are important to us. I think there's got to be a period where things get different. I think there's too many hard feelings.”

I went ahead and bought tix this morning. I am skeptical that Texas and ATM play each other but the prospect of Texas v LSU was a good back up scenario.
I also have a Longhorn GF and wanted to make sure this was taken care of before prices went up.

A&M told the SEC it did not want to participate in a bowl against Texas. SEC is now moving forward on that basis, apparently satisfied that it makes sense for the interests of A&M and the SEC.

Dodds is no longer the AD, thank god.
If either school had the fan's best interest then they would make this game happen.

Link? (Of course not. Like Texas lackey Chip Brown, you're making stuff up.)

You said we were avoiding them. My links clearly point to the fact that we offered to continue the rivalry; they said no. So who ducked whom?

Again, please point to where we have said this. Unless you actually believe a longhorn beat writer somehow got to be a fly on the wall during a supposed call between A&M and the SEC.

It's really instructive that Texas went from "no way in hell we're going to play them anymore!" to "please please please play us! <pssst....hey Chip, writer an article that says that A&M is refusing to play us so that they'll look bad and have to play us! Doesn't matter if it isn't true! ANYTHING for the chance to play them again!>

2013. He said the same thing. Your point?
FYI he is now at your school. If your next question is why not 2014.
Why is Mizzou ducking Kansas?

I don't necessarily believe that ATM is trying to get out from this game.
It would be classic Texas for them to say between themselves "We don't want to play ATM because we will probably lose", but realize they could benefit by getting in front of the story and say ATM/SEC is trying to avoid playing Texas.

If you say so. Texas Bowl wants both teams. Texas wants the game. It's not going to happen. You can fill in the blanks, you can read the limited articles available, or you can do what I did and talk to folks on bowl committees and see what they're hearing.
Or you can just deny the obvious. If you'll notice, my post was not disparaging to A&M in any way, and I wouldn't even argue that I'd make a different decision than A&M is making.
