Yeah, but McCarron had to go against LSU's defense and Mett didn't. Bama's wasn't quite all it was cracked up to be.
That's the only conclusion I can come to also.

Bama was only playing for a field goal with almost 2 minutes left. LSU was had to score a td with over half the amount of time. Different play calling for the 2 different situations.
LOL....NO
LSU missed the FG with 1:34 left in the game. That means Bama only had 1:34 seconds in the game to score something.
Yeldon scored with 0:51 left in the game. That means that LSU had 0:51 left to score something.
1:34 - 0:51 = 0:43
This means that Bama's 73 yard drive only took 43 seconds...which is LESS than the amount of time LSU had on the clock when they got the ball back.
LSU and Mettenberger showed how NOT to run a 2 minute offense when they got the ball. They were literally clueless on what to do in every aspect. Bama wasn't.

Bama was clueless on how to run the 13 minute offense.
Amazing Mettenberger had the game of his life vs that defense. I guess everyone was right.

Im pretty sure our regular offense has been so bad we practice that and dont even bother with 2 minute offense. At least that's what it looked like.
Every Tiger fan in that stadium knew it was over when Bama scored the TD.

I figured it was over when Bama got the ball back with the ability to win on one possession.

My feeble heart quailed when McCarron fricked up the handoff to Yeldon and fumbled. It had the feel that I have had in past disasters. It almost proved true

That doesn't negate the fact that Bama was playing with a much shorter field and had more time to work with. LSU NEEDED a TD, Bama NEEDED a Fg. 2 completely different situations with 2 completely different playbooks for each.

LSU has shitty clock management. I didn't have much doubt that someone it would get screwed up. If you follow LSU football at all, you don't want any part of the end of a close game, with very few exceptions.
It was obvious after Bama scored that LSU didn't have a plan, and we all knew that would be the case.

I, and everyone around me, thought it was over when LSU scored their last TD.
The way Bama offense had played the second half I said out loud..."it's over, they need a miracle to win this now."
And they got one in the form of mccarron stepping up and playing like a champion.

Even though LSU was playing well, the approach to the game was still timid. I knew Bama would get a shot.

It would be a lie if I didn't admit that played into my renewed confidence when Bama managed to score
I am anxious to see how Mett plays the rest of this year. If he doesn't play that well going forward there will be a fair amount of hissing and spitting in the Bama fanbase.

Doesn't matter.
LSU proceeded to run nothing that resembled any clue how to move the ball down the field with limited time.
Bama drove 72 yards. LSU needed to drive 80 yards....there was no difference.
The play calling with 51 seconds left and 80 yards to go is the exact same as the play calling with 1:34 left and 72 yards to go (or 50 if you wanna say bama wanted a FG) when you just start the drive. Any 2 minute offense in BOTH situations should be throwing to the sidelines 10-15 yards downfield and across the middle if for a 1st down....this is standard.

You see 6inmylifetime, even though we now know that there is really no such thing as "time", as space and time are one in the same, it still proves useful to view time in the traditional linear sense when dealing with relatively short and small events.
When viewing the final minutes of the game the fact that LSU possessed the ball after Alabama meant that Mettenburger had less time than AJ in which to complete the drive because LSU's possession occurred closer to when the clock read 0:00, signaling the end of the game.
It could prove helpful to create yourself a visual aid. Draw a straight line across a piece of paper. Make three marks on the line, one at the beginning, one in the middle, and one at the end. The one at the beginning represents Alabama's final possession, the middle represents LSU's, and the final dot represents the end of the game. Distance from one dot to the final dot represents the amount of time between the two events. It will now become obvious that Mettenburger had less time than AJ in which to complete his final drive.
And no folding that piece of paper and pulling no wormhole shite either. That's cheating.

I know he played the game of his life Sat. night but dude froze up in crunch time. The fact is he had more time on the clock than A.J. for his teams last drive. He was facing soft coverage every play like A.J. supposedly was, and he only had a three man rush each play to worry about. All he managed to do was dump it off on one play and get sacked on another.
Great read. Would print in braille & distribute to blind kids.

He doesn't get a free pass with me, nor does the coaching staff. Actually, the same old game-ending mismanagement.
