The greatest LSU tradition, crying incessantly about refs and injuries, also plays a role.

This can't be overstated, particularly on tRant. In fact, the LSU whining actually leads to brief, ad hoc alliances between Alabama and Auburn fans on here.
Something has to be really foul to get Alabama and Auburn fans to team up to combat it.

If you really knew A&M fans like you pretend to know us you wouldn’t even bother saying sorry even sarcastically.
I can't argue with this statement. I guess the best way to put is that I don't understand aggie fans. I do know that y'all treat visitors very well.

quote:
You would know we love the attention being the SEC West villain role gives our otherwise unremarkable program. frick that has been by far the biggest payoff of the SEC move, getting to play the West’s heel instead of the best’s understudy.
this statement proves I don't understand your fans as I find it remarkable that anyone would embrace negative attention. especially folks that love to brag so much.
and your biggest payoff, BY FAR, by joining the SEC is money and national exposure. before y'all joined your athletic department was in the red and had to borrow money from the academic side. joining the SEC energized your fan base exponentially and you had no problem raising money for a complete stadium rebuild (which you strangely include as department revenue). the Houston Chronicle used to carry almost as much sports news about LSU as it did A&M and now we have been "deleted". i'm not saying y'all didn't bring money to the SEC due to your market size but I am saying moving to the SEC energized your program so much I call it "jump starting"
just a side note: I have noticed a change in my aggie friends since joining the SEC. at first, they seemed to enjoy the banter and ribbing (it was good natured on my part) and we would laugh and have a beer. it was like losing was OK. and now, I sense strongly that y'all want to win and will do anything not to lose to LSU as in the past. giving Fisher a guaranteed contract worth 75 million while paying Sumlin a lump sum 10 million buy out (plus his assistants buyouts) tells me y'all are tired of losing and are taking football as seriously as other SEC schools do. you are doing what it takes even though it's ridiculously expensive. imo, it will work.
PS. I quit joking with my Aggie friends a few years ago when I sensed this change and felt they were damn sensitive about it. when y'all get the LSU monkey off your back I think the good nature ribbing will resume.

Auburn has a mascot. If you ever go to a home game when Auburn comes, and support your school by buying a program.(Doubt it)
Open the cover up and flip in a few pages and read where it says the Auburn Tigers.
The guy wearing a costume is wearing a tiger suit.
But all yall's excitement is tied to the War Eagle which is not the mascot.
Then yall have the other untamed zoo animals like Gus's wife you rally around.
Its not our fault its confusing.
quote:
You don't see me asking why Bama fans can't choose an Elephant or a Tide?
To be fair a "tide" isn't an animal. No one could wear a tide costume and not look like an idiot.
But Auburn could be "The War Eagles" tomorrow and the guy on the field could wear an eagle suit with 0% confusion required.

Tennessee are they the hound dogs or the volunteers?
I always assumed that Smokie was a volunteer and that is how that works out.
I mean what the frick would a "volunteer" costume entail? Have a guy carry around a big paycheck with nothing on it?
No one does two animals like Auburn does.

"Hate" may be a bit strong.
It's the same feeling everyone had for Dom DiMaggio, Billy Ripken, Ozzie Canseco, and Eli Manning.
Now, imagine how popular Eli would be if he was overbearingly obnoxious.
That's how we feel about Auburn

Bama wannabees in all of CFB.
Coming from a UGA fan, this statement is rich.
People hate Auburn simply because of 2010 and Cam Newton. They can say big cheaters and yada yada yada but it boils down to Cam Newton living rent free in the SEC teams head since 2010. The way they treated Auburn after that is why I, like many Auburn fans can give two shits about the SEC Team's opinion of Auburn and we there is no "conference pride".
With all due respect, and I said with all due respect, the SEC can suck Auburn's dick

frick you I am not trolling. I am giving you an opinion without kid gloves.
Let me put it this way: I get it. Any Aggie gets it. We do a TON of weird shite too and we think its all justified because of the narratives we have built behind those traditions.
But the fact is fellow SEC programs don't respect those narratives, they don't respect the nuance. From that standpoint our tradition of having men lead our yells, despite a compelling origin story, is simply "gay." Or our tradition of having yell practice the night before is "weird" even if we think the story behind it justifies the action.
So from that standpoint I -an average SEC fan- don't care whats in your program guide or on your website as reasons for more than one animal. I come at it with 0% intelligence and I expect it to accommodate me at that level (like everything SEC), and from that perspective having two animals is weird.
At that point you have two options: embrace the weird via a more unintelligent narrative that SEC fans can digest ("frick yall we have two animals mascots because two is better than one"), or give us a better reason for the situation that doesn't need paragraphs in a program guide to explain.
